Vinyl LP pressing of this 2009 release. Thieves Like Us is a musical vehicle -- an elegant starship, pointed straight to the heart of the listener. Although they encompass a variety of influences, they ultimately consider themselves to be a Pop band. Yes, the production style is both Disco and Hip Hop, but the sheer strength of the melodies and emotional depth of the songs makes them classics (think LCD Soundsystem, New Order, Daft Punk and Digitalism).

This album is perfection from start to finish. A writer for Amoeba Music summed it up best: "I have managed to fall deeply in love with this band in a matter of weeks. It is getting to the point where I don't want to listen to anything else." Back in the day they probably would have signed a contract in blood with Factory Records. This band is like if New Order existed in 2008 but was even better than you remember.

Thieves Like Us have the right idea. Simple vocals, catchy melodies, and a lo-fi/80's synthpop aesthetic makes this album solid and incredibly likeable. Plenty of interesting sounds in this one, echoing New Order and similar bands heavily, but not without it's own minimalistic pop flair.
