4.0 out of 5 stars Good toy for your health fanatic child!, January 6, 2008

I got a good laugh when this register asked my child to "Scan the protein", I mean c'mon, this is a kids toy, do they really care about protein?

Anyway, this is a very neat toy that implants radio-frequency identifiers (RFID) into toy foods, so that your child can literally scan them across the reader and the toy will pick up on what the food was.

There are three difficulty levels for your child, even a 'quiz' where you can see how smart they are after answering a series of questions.

Some complaints I have about this toy:

* All the numbers on the register goes unused in the normal functionality of the games. Sure your children can push the numbers, but it never gets more detailed than that. For a register, and different numbered items, I would have liked to see some addition and subtraction and not just 'scan this item' games.

* If you ever lost one of the foods, the games would be very difficult to play. These are smaller pieces, and there is no easy way to store all the stuff that goes with the game with the game. It's going to be up to you as the parent to keep all the pieces safe!

4.0 out of 5 stars My son loves it!, January 4, 2008

This was a pain in the butt to put together. Read the directions first!!! I didn't. After assembling, I realized I needed to put the batteries in FIRST, then assemble. Oops. It has different levels of difficulty and uses the color of the foods, numbers and food groups as sorters. My son has enjoyed it for hours at a time, whether he's responding to the "test" questions or just playing make believe.

Santa just brought this for my just turned 3 year old. It's cute chunky pieces are great for little hands . It has different activities for learning. It's great for the little imagination as well. Even my 5 year old plays with it. I only wish the conveyor belt worked on it that would put the icing on the cake! A+++

While I feel that this item is quite overpriced, my 3 year old absolutely loves it. He saw it on TV and really had hoped Santa would bring it. Santa did, and it got the best reaction of all of his gifts. He loves playing with it.

This toy has three levels of play and learning. This toy will last many years to help a child learn their simple addition facts. Great invention and should be in every daycare, preschool, and kindergaten class.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves it... and that's what counts., October 28, 2009

My two year old daughter loves this toy. She likes to play "grocery" and pretend store or restaurant. We rarely use all the educational features of the toy. She already knows her numbers and colors. She plays with the toy almost every day though. We have great fun together with it. That's were the value comes in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Present! Even the 2yr old Loves it!, September 11, 2009

My neice got this for her 3rd birthday and my almost 2yr old LOVED it! She loves hearing the scanner announce the items she's buying and she repeats the words back (she was a late talker)! My son is 5 and there are levels of play for him as well. This is a Super product. The grocery items are hard plastic, not cardboard, which is great. The only reason i gave it four stars in durability is due to the fact that the top piece and two base pieces are a little flimsy, but they have already withstood hours of playtime so I'm very optimistic!

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertains my 2 yr old for a long time!, July 21, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This toy is very fun! For a 2 year old it entertains him longer than most toys. The buttons are easy to push and he caught onto the scanner part really fast. He loves the songs. And even though it comes with a lot of little parts (the food) which we know kids all like to lose, I have found you can easily buy replacement food on ebay. I'm giving this toy a 4/5 because it does have one small con - The cash register drawer some times gets stuck if it's pushed back in too far and so when you hit the open button it won't open. You can easily stick your fingernail in there and pull it back out a little, but of course that is hard for a little kid to figure out. I don't know if that's a flaw with just this one or all of them. Other than that this toy is great!
