One song only and it would be anyway a good buy ..."Telstar"!
...but there are many other. This new sound was fantastic 40 years ago but is still impressive today. It would need just a bit more quality in the remastering.

Ciao,
Franco

Meek was a bit of a mad scientist. The Torandos brought his crazy creations to life. This is worth a listen if you are into instro music.

This is one of my favorite CDs. ALL of the music is great! I am so happy to have it in my music collection. I listen to it very frequently and never tire of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The UK's Second Best Instrumental Band!", May 9, 2009

This review is from: Play Telstar & Other Great Hits (Audio CD)
This is only one of many compilations available by the Tornados, whose producer and mentor was Joe Meek, the tragically brilliant genius, who also produced "Have I the Right" by the Honeycombs. Under Meek's eccentric guidance, the Tornados can claim the distinction of having the first British hit to be number one on the US charts. (It was simultaneously number one in the UK). Without any digital technology, "Telstar" still has a haunting space age sound. No one has ever covered this song and came even close to their sound. Sadly, their output was not prolific, and most of the compilations repeat the same tracks. The other songs are also interesting, unusual, and creative-well worth the listening. Now, the Tornados must be seen as a distant second to the legendary Shadows, whose lead guitarist, Hank B Marvin possesses skills that are absolutely unparalled. Still, it must be conceded that even the Shads could not equal the original when they covered "Telstar." That is something that cannot be taken away from Meek's Tornados. Had not Meek chosen to take his life, they might have evolved into an even better band.
