This timely guide covers healing through the use of a variety of play therapy techniques and methods. Various client groups and treatment settings are given special attention, including working with adolescents, the elderly, couples, individuals with dementia, and clients in group therapy.

Material is organized into four sections for easy reference:
* Dramatic role play
* Therapeutic humor
* Sand play and doll play
* Play groups, hypnoplay, and client-centered play

Play Therapy with Adults is a valuable book for psychologists, therapists, social workers, and counselors interested in helping clients explore themselves through playful activities.

Another Classic! April 18, 2003
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Charles Schaefer has done it again!
Play Therapy with Adults is destined to become a classic, and be used by therapists starting in graduate school, and continuing to be read for many, many years. The depth of this book is incredible; featuring many techniques for play therapy with adults. It covers dramatic role play, improvisational play with couples, the use of humor in therapy, sandplay, doll play, hypno-play, etc. Clients presenting with depression, illness, dementia, and dissociative disorders are among the adults who benefit from play therapy. As someone who has been doing play therapy for over 25 years, I really appreciate this book.
Well done!

Great book April 10, 2007
Format:Hardcover
This book is excellent. I especially enjoyed the therapeutic humor chapter by Dr. Sultanoff. There are many helpful and insightful tips for therapists who want to use humor in the practice of psychotherapy with adults.
