Helpful book for child and family therapists, November 8, 2010
This is a great foundation book for clinicians who work with children and families in crisis. It covers a range of issues including domestic violence, foster care, divorce, bereavement, and serious illness, and it presents a number of current psychotherapy approaches such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Other books I recommend for clinicians who provide therapy to children and families include: Structured Play-Based Interventions for Engaging Children and Adolescents in TherapyTechniques-Techniques-Techniques: Play-Based Activities for Children, Adolescents & FamiliesCreative Family Therapy Techniques: Play, Art, and Expressive Activities to Engage Children in Family Sessions (Sociology Family Relationships)Engaging Children in Family Therapy: Creative Approaches to Integrating Theory and ResearchAssessment and Treatment Activities for Children, Adolescents, and Families: Practitioners Share Their Most Effective TechniquesAssessment and Treatment Activities for Children, Adolescents, and Families VOLUME TWO: Practitioners Share Their Most Effective TechniquesHelping Abused and Traumatized Children: Integrating Directive and Nondirective ApproachesBlending Play Therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Evidence-Based and Other Effective Treatments and Techniques
