Editorial Reviews

2009 album from the singer/songwrtier. Play Time is described by Seals as ''A non-stop rocker. There's not a slow song on it.'' Fans will be delighted by guest appearances by some of Brady's friends including Pop icon Richard Marx and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Stan Lynch (drummer of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers). They'll also get to savor a slice of Hot Apple Pie, Brady's previous band mates.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is awesome country-rock!, November 11, 2009

As I've said before, I hate writing reviews, however, they help me. So I'll give it a go. I'm surprised no one has written a review on this CD. Its really good! In my opinion, its a blend of country-rock, with a few tracks I like to call hillbilly-rock! LOL! The music is upbeat and there isn't a song I don't like. Listen to the sample songs and see for yourself. Little story- my daily driver is a '53 Chevy pickup, and I was driving this busy road listening to track 7, suddenly, up ahead I see brakes. Its a John Deere making its way down this road that is a 50 MPH speed limit. He is over to the side and I slowly pass him as the lyrics "Hey farmer, is your daughter home?" were blasting from my speakers. ..It was classic! You can't buy moments like that! Anyway, if you've heard 'Ho Down', then you know this CD rocks. The lyrics are great. This is my kind of country. Please check it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Playtime is for FUN!, April 6, 2011
This review is from: Play Time (Audio CD)
Playtime was released in August 2009 and to date, there has been only 1 review of this CD thus far? What a major injustice! I happened to stumble upon Playtime simply because I read that Stan Lynch of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers penned a song on this album. It is considered to be in the country genre but I don't think it's quite that cut and dry.

Brady Seals opens up Playtime with "Eeny Meny Miny Moe", a foot-stompin' honky-tonk blues number which sets the tone for the rest of the album..... just plain ol' fun. "Ho Down" is another blues infused country ditty about a female bar patron whose drinkin' and flirtin' gets her into trouble. The fun keeps on rollin' with "Been there Drunk That" and "Trucker Song" (co-penned by Stan Lynch) which no doubt will be a favorite of the 18-Wheeler road warriors out there. No signs of slowing down yet with "Better Every Beer", a great cover of the Billy Yates tune.

The next track "Farm Boy" may not appeal to the country purists with its upbeat funky groove but is keeps the tempo movin' along as does "Askin' Questions" (my least favorite track on the cd). Brady gets back in the groove with "Everybody Smokes In Hell" about a guy who has had it with his wife's infidelity along with her other bad habits. There is nothing country about the rocker "You'll Come Running" or the funky "Bubba's Pimpin' Ride". Playtime closes out with "Farmer Brown", a blue-grass influenced number about a farmer and his "special" crops.

In summary, Playtime is GREAT fun from start to finish. Honky-tonk blues, great rhythm section, great guitar licks, fun lyrics, and fun story telling. This is not a "tear in your beer" country album..... and that's a GOOD thing! Get this CD and have some FUN!
