In reasearching playhut models, I couldn't find detailed info on this one. I took a chance and ordered it. The number of stars I have given it shouldn't be taken too seriously at this point as the kids aren't getting it until Christmas - that's the true review. For those of you who are considering buying, but want more info, here it is. The Playhut Megaland comes with three huts (34"x42"x34", 28"x34"x28" and 28"x 30" x 28") and two tunnels (both 20"x 18"). It comes with 48 ballpit balls (they are small, about 2")and two soft blow up balls (basketball and soccer ball). These also small, about 3" round.
Unlike the lil' explorers Megaland Jungle model that was reported not to have a floor in the ball pit, THIS MODEL DOES HAVE A FLOOR IN THE BALLPIT. It The entrance to the ballpit has velcro to keep it closed, but if the tunnels aren't attached to the ballpit sides, it looks like ball may fly out. There is not a way to secure the flaps when tunnels are not connected. Overall, so far it looks like a great gift for the price I paid. I'll weigh in on the verdict after the holiday.

I got this item less than half off, so my elation with it is based on the value of the product for what I paid. However, I will try to give a straight-forward review. This Playhut model has 3 different rooms and 2 tunnels. It comes with a few SMALL balls. The "soccer ball" is not black and white as pictured. In the one I received, it is red-orange and black. The "basketball" is red-orange. Both the soccer and basket balls are about the size of my fist. They are "squishy", soft, and filled with air (GREAT for little ones, but not at all standard).

The ball pit balls that are included are minimal, small, and flimsy. They are not really going to give you the "ball-pit" experience. I dumped 150 more standard size ball-pit balls in and it could still use 50-100 more to really give you that feel, but it is certainly good enough. The ball-pit module has one mesh wall with a small mesh "basketball hoop" velcroed on the outside. It has 2 holes for tunnel options. These 2 holes have flaps that can be tied down to make the wall impassable. They can also be rolled and tied up and out of the way. This applies to ALL tunnel holes throughout the Playhut. On only this module (ball-pit) there is a lip at the base of the tunnel holes to help keep the balls inside. The 4th wall of the ball-pit module is cut in an upside-down "T" shape. There are 3 velcro tabs that can be used to make this wall more impassable. This module has an open top so balls can be tossed into or out of the pit. There is also a floor on this module.

The "soccer" module has a roof and 2 tunnel holes but no floor. One side is almost completely open to allow it to function as a soccer net. The wall opposite that opening is a completely solid wall.

The final module is the more triangular one. It does have a roof.

I didn't buy my playhut on Amazon, but wanted to write a review when I saw the number of low ratings it got. This is hands down the best money I have ever spent on a toy for my children. I've had it for four years and have none of the problems other reviewers mention with durability or seams coming apart (and we have played rough). Yes, the velcro is scratchy, but there are only a few points where the tunnels and huts can be secured by velcro and each is less than the size of a quarter. No, you can't secure the flaps in any way while they're not attached but are you locking your kids in the playhouse?

My favorite part of this playhouse is the portability. It is perfect for us to have in a small house as it folds up and stores behind or under the couch. So much fun when we pull it out for the kids to play with. We also travel with this, just pack it under suitcases in the car and you've got a great toy for visiting or vacationing that takes up virtually no space. As other reviewers mention, the center portion of the toy isn't really deep enough to be considered a ball pit, and the balls do tend to go everywhere. I end up tossing them back into the hut as quickly as my kids toss them out which gets old fast. I don't see an end in sight to our use of the playhut, my 5 year old still loves to play in the huts even though she doesn't fit standing up anymore.

I would absolutely recommend this as a toy and have bought a couple more as gifts for other kids. My only problem ever has been when trying to twist the huts up to fit into the carrying case - sometimes a wire will get twisted and the hut has a hard time standing up for a while, but they've always twisted back. I'd recommend if possible to just fold the huts and not twist them back into their original circles.

I got these for my son for Christmas when he was 13 months old. He's almost 4 now, and they're still in use. Between my son, our 1 year old, and our cats, they've really taken a beating. Some of them have rips in them (thanks to the cats, not the kids) and some of the wire framing on the tents is starting to not hold its' shape very well, but the kids don't seem to mind. I really am surprised at how well these things have held up. I keep them folded and tucked away in our play room and take them out for rainy days, or to use in the backyard. They're always a hit with the neighborhood kids, too! Probably one of the better toy purchases I've made.
