My Interactive Princess Belle

Disappointed in Belle! My 4 year old did not play with it as I thought she would (since she loves the movie & other belle dolls). Pieces are very small and get lost easily. Dressing was difficult. Overall not that impressive for the price.

This doll was very disapointing. I bought it on my Birthday shopping spree and it only took 5 minutes for me to think it was totally boring. I bought it because Beauty And The Beast is my favorite disney movie and I wanted to hear the characters and display the doll as a "souviner" of all the time I spent as a toddler watching the disney movie and thinking Belle was the coolest disney princess ever. The doll was talking to me like a person would talk to a 1 year old, talking in a corney voice, saying she was nervous about meeting the beast and telling me to change her outfit. For Belle to recognize her outfit you have to put in an outfit contact, a wire conection plastic piece which would be very complicated for a young child. The little characters are very hard to place directly in Belle's hand which also makes it complicated. From the package you'd think it came with an interactive map but it is just a paper that rips and crinkles in a small period of time. It comes with 2 necklaces, shoes, most of the main characters and 2 dresses, all things that are pretty easy to lose. Belle's head, eyes and nose are completley oversized like the doll in general. She is kind of chubby and hard to pose. One of her shoes has a really weired heel and is hard to get on and falls off alot. I tried to display her in my biggest doll chair and she fell over a few days later. It takes a long, long time to dress her, and if you haven't done so in 30 seconds, Belle claims she's tiered and says she wants to take a nap, then if it really takes to long, she'll shut of automaticly. It is VERY,VERY annoying. For the price of [X], I sure got something that didn't intrigue me for to long. This doll completly changed my perspective of Belle. Overall, I suggest you NOT buy this toy and buy something that will keep your child busy for more than 15 minutes. I personelly suggest a MyScene or a Bratz doll.

I also purchased a cinderella doll similar to belle and was very disappointed. Her arm broke off within a month or two of purchase. Unfortunately, it was off the shelves in stores and i recieved no customer service from the playmates manufacturer. (I read that same thing happened in other reviews). The doll was difficult to dress and frustrated my 4 yr old because she couldn't get it dressed fast enough to go along with the story. Overall I wish I hadn't bought this toy! Not worth the money!

This was the "must have" gift that my 6 year old daughter wanted for Christmas... after several months it was the one toy that remained on all her Christmas lists. Unfortunately it turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the holiday season. While the doll is beautiful, the interactive process is unimaginative and clumsy. Each accessory must be attached to Belle's hand, and the interaction between Belle and those pieces is elementary and simple. After playing with it twice my daughter became bored of the plain, repetitive language and now only plays with the doll using her own imagination. I think that consumers looking for a lot of interaction would be wise to look elsewhere.

Given the number of mixed reviews on this doll, I thought I would add our 2 cents' worth. I actually found this doll, sans the necklaces, at a garage sale for $5 bucks! Now, you can't go wrong for that price, but my 3 year old loves her SO much that I bought the Cinderella doll for her birthday.

It is challenging for little hands to manipulate the interactive pieces, but what a great excuse for Mom and/or Dad to play! When Emily tires of the rather limited recordings, we use our imaginations. An old-fashioned notion, but priceless in my book.

For the 2-3 year old set, this nicely scaled doll beats the heck out of the 11 1/2 inch Princess dolls, which are impossible for little hands to manage well. This one is a WINNER!

I am not overly impressed with this toy. I found it to be very expensive and I think the smaller pieces could be damaged easily so as not to work when "plugged" into Belle. However, my 6 year old daughter just loves it, sleeps with it at night, wears the matching locket, it is her favorite toy...so how can I put a price on that!! Of course this stems from her love of the movie so had I found a cheaper Belle doll I think it would have been a big hit as well without hitting my wallet!!

My daughter was so excited to get this doll but she and I were very disappointed when we got it home. It is very difficult for a 4 year old to dress Belle and the fact that she has to be in her blue dress to explore the castle is frustrating. Many of the pieces are small and easily lost. The head fell off shortly after purchase and we were able to put it back on, though it was wobbly. Later the head broke completely off(of course after store return period).

We bought this doll for our 4 year old daughter and she immediately took to it. She loves going through the little adventure that Belle talks you through. She even slept with it the first night. It's not as interactive as we thought, it's merely a series of prerecorded clips that are triggered by the items you put in her hand or the dress she is wearing, but for my daughter she thinks it's great. Our only gripe is that the our normally careful little girl somehow managed to break the head off in one day. A little superglue has reattached it temporarily but we're hoping that Playmates will help us restore the doll with a replacement ... I'll let you know.

Hello! My 6 yer old sister loves this toy. She brings her dance outfit and her village dress. Also she talks! AMAZING! No wonder my sister likes it. She begged for Belle for 6 months. And she looked content when she recieves it for her birthday1 She tkes her to bed at night and hugs in the moring.She brushes her hair.Takes her everywhere.She treats belle like if she was her daughter. She Adores Her.

My daughter recieved this as a Christmas gift for 2002, She loves the doll, never plays with any of the accessories, or turns her on, love just to talk and sit with her, sleeps with her a night. This doll is not so durable though, as I read in another review, our dolls head fell off, well snapped off too. I to, crazy glued it and are awaiting a response from Playmates Toys Inc. Her hair style is really hard to do once you take it out. Update on Playmates, after 4 Emails, they finally responded, because I had no telephone number to get in touch with them, they told me to bring the doll back to the store, even though I had no box or reciept this was a gift! Needless to say the toy store would not execpt it and I could not blame them. I Emailed Playmates again and finally they told me to send the doll back to them and they would replace it. I've yet to recieve my new Belle doll, I'm very unhappy with the way Playmates handled this matter pushing it off on the toy store, the toy store should no be responsible for Playmates defective toys.
