2.0 out of 5 stars Very underpowered system for the price, December 1, 2002
By
This review is from: PlayStation 2 3D Surround Sound System (Video Game)
When my friend told me he had gotten some amazing speakers for his entertainment center, I was expecting the world. This tragic little system, however, is so underpowered I had no choice but to be disappointed. Even for digital speakers, these lack in power. The bass is disappointing at best, the mids are too strong and the highs tinny. For this amount of money, you SHOULD be getting one of the following:

Cambridge SoundWorks FourPointSurround FPS2000 - this system is amazing, and the same price as this one.

Altec Lansing 621 2.1 Surround System - another good system for the same price as this one.

You need a couple audio crosses from Radio Shack for almost no money in order to connect either system, but the hassle is well worth it for quality sound. Otherwise, just go buy some Sony MDR v700s and never look at speakers again.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than I expected!, March 25, 2002

This review is from: PlayStation 2 3D Surround Sound System (Video Game)
I tried for months to get Intec's other Vertical Stand/Speaker combo and all my local stores were out, then I saw this just the other day, and I was thrilled when I finally got it all hooked up. First off, I have to say that Intec thought of every possible scenario when they put this package together, they include cables and hookups for just about every TV/AV configuration, and this was a bonus for me because I have an older TV without AV Jacks. The product is great, it looks awesome when it's all set up (makes the PS2 look sleek and powerful, trust me on this one) and the sound quality is without a doubt great for those who don't already have an expensive surround sound system. This sound system is also great for playing DVD's. Prior to this I had to unhook my PS2 from the VCR and plug it into the TV if I wanted good quality video from my DVD's, but the drawback was I lost my stereo sound (it went back to crappy mono) but now the sound is 100% better with the 3D system enabled, it sounds like I have a state of the art system installed in my room! I have one complaint, and that is when you turn the system on/off you get a pretty noticable 'pop' from the speakers, and this always freaks me out because I think I'm doing something wrong. Overall though I would reccomend this to anyone who has a PS2 and no sound system. ...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best, Not the Worst, April 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: PlayStation 2 3D Surround Sound System (Video Game)
When I purchased this item, I did not expect the world. (For [the price] you shouldn't) It is basically easy to assemble and get started the quality of the sound is pretty good (For the person getting the noise when turning it off, turn the volume down first) The sound quality is good. My only complaint of the system is that the wires for the external speakers are not long enough, and I will probably need to get extenders for my own use. Otherwise, worth the $$$.
