Awesome Controller,
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Chameleon Wireless Controller (Video Game)
This Pelican Wireless PS2 Controller is awesome. It has a very long operating range, a long battery life of up to 6 months, stepped dowm L2 and R2 buttons for even more comfort, a superb grip on each hand, and a nice transluscent color so you can stop wondering whats inside that controller of yours. All of these great features make the Pelican Wireless Controller the best of the best. As a PS2 owner, I recommend this high-quality wireless controller to you and all other PS2 owners.

Bad centering, doesn't fit slimline PS2.,

This review is from: PlayStation 2 Chameleon Wireless Controller (Video Game)
My first complaint with these controllers is that the analog joystick doesn't center itself well, so it's VERY hard to get my game character to stand still, and hard to use that joystick to select other things, like weapons in the Ratchet & Clank games. The second problem came to light when I tried to plug in 2 of these things; the receiver units don't fit next to each other in a slimline PS/2 very well; they're just a little too wide, and the receiver cases bump into the PS2 case at the top, preventing them from being plugged in the whole way. I ended up putting both units on my belt sander to grind them a little narrower, and I ground off a little of the back at the top to get them to plug in the whole way. Maybe they fit fine in the regular PS/2, but definitely not designed for the slimline version. The manufacturer had a little note to contact them if you own a slimline so you could get some kind of adapter, but after 3 months I gave up. No one ever answered the phones, and my messages were ignored because I never received any adapter or return phone call.

I don't actually own this controller, but i recently borrowed one from one from a friend and i LOVED it. the range and signal strength are amazing, but the only problem i had was a loose analog stick. but that was probably from non-stop playing...

Not the best...,
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Chameleon Wireless Controller (Video Game)
The left analog stick never worked right; no matter how much I pushed on it, my character would walk instead of run, and it always turned one way. The indented R2 and L2 buttons are inconvenient and hard to press sometimes. I didn't find the battery life to be very long, either. I also just want to point out that this controller does not have vibration. The one good thing was the range and strength of the signal. I was able to operate it from behind a closed door and under several layers of blankets. I was disappointed with this product, and went back to using the Dualshock controllers.

Wireless Controller-Chameleon for PlayStation 2,

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CONTROLLER....FIRST OF ALL, IT DOES WORK ON THE ORIGINAL PLAYSTATION....AS FAR AS BLOCKING THE MEMORY CARD, THERE IS A CABLE THAT EXTENDS THE SIGNAL BOX AWAY FROM THE MACHINE, ALLOWING USE OF THE MEMORY CARD.... THIS CONTROLLER IS PRETTY NEAT....I HAVE USED A FEW TIMES AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT....THE BATTERY SEEMS TO STAY GOOD, EVEN THOUGH IM USING USED BATTERIES.... THE ONE THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT IT, IS THE GRIP HANDLES....AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF USE, IT STARTS TO HURT MY HAND CAUSE OF THE RUBBER GRIPS....BUT OVERALL IT IS NICE TO USE....KIDS WONT TRIP OVER THE CORD WHILE IM PLAYING....LOL.... I HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE....THANK YOU....

This controller isn't all that good at all. I had this controller for 2 weeks before I gave up on it.I played Shadow of the Colossus with it, and it's a miracle that I made it as far into the game as I did. The control wasn't precise at all. I would push and hold the analog stick in the direction I wanted to move, but my onscreen character behaved like I was just toggling in that direction, as he would stop and start and stumble. In other cases, it was almost as if the controller only was able to move characters in straight directions, and not in angles. And at certain points just before I pitched the darned thing, the controller would stop working mid-game, and I would have to reset the signal. The recessed R2 and L2 buttons are a horrible idea. It makes it more difficult to use, if you're playing a game that uses them continuously, like SSX. I could care less about the lack of rumble function. The fact of the matter is that this is a sub-par, flimsy-feeling peripheral. I recommend the wireless Logitech PS2 controller.

Great controller, with a few minor flaws on a PSOne,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Chameleon Wireless Controller (Video Game)
For those of you who are wondering if this controller is compatible with the original PlayStation or the PSOne, from my experience, it is. I use the controller about 15 feet away from the game console and I've experienced no appreciable signal loss. I love the operating range and the battery life of this unit; plus, it made my PSOne even more portable than it already was. I will never go back to using a wired controller unless I absolutely must. There, however, are a few minor flaws to note: 1. The receiver module fit nicely into my PSOne, but it blocked the memory card slot above it. I wasn't able to plug in a controller and memory card into Slot 1 at the same time. This can be a problem with some games, particularly Alundra and Mega Man X5, that require a memory card to be present in Slot 1 in order to save the game. I was able to correct this issue by connecting a controller extension cord between the PSOne and the receiver module. 2. This controller does NOT include vibration functionality. I personally find it to be no loss, since I never understood the point of having vibration in the first place. On the plus side, the lack of vibration contributes to the longevity of battery life in this controller. 3. This controller does not include turbo buttons. I was a little disappointed by this fact, since I occasionally need rapid-fire functionality. 4. Because this controller operates in the 2.4 GHz range, it may interfere with some cordless phones and wireless Internet connections. I have yet to experience this issue, but it still remains a possibility. Despite these flaws, I am very pleased with this controller.

Does NOT match the Description!,
By
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Chameleon Wireless Controller (Video Game)
The description states this 'PRODUCT' is 11x6x3. They don't tell you the size of the controller which 4.5"x5"x2.5" and it is very light weight and flimsy. This units weighs 5 oz.Also misleading is where they state this is a Sony Playstation as if it is a Sony Product. This doesn't say Sony anywhere. It's a Pelican controller with foreign writing all over it. I was expecting a Sony brand. It's a gift for my grandson, age 10, so I just hope it holds up. Too late to return for exchange now on a Christmas gift. It's guaranteed but after reading other shopper's experience with trying to deal with problems with Pelican products, they don't seem to care or answer complaints. |
