Great buy,

I purchased this particular item at a retail store. The reason i did was because it was a need at the time. Anyway i would recommend this item to anyone that is looking for a tv\dvd remote because not only will it work on the tv and playstation dvd but you DONT NEED A MEMORY CARD for it to work.Unlike the sony version which makes you get a memory card and download drivers from a cd to the memory card which just takes up space. My buttons are not backward like the other reviews say. It works great the only reason i did not give all 5 stars is that the t.v. part of the remote does not have a mute button or a sleep enabeled button for the t.v. that have thouse features. But other than that the remote works great.

When I first bought my PS2, I bought this remote. It does what I need it to do, and that's play DVD's. It's relatively cheap and works very well (the reports that anything blocks the signal are not entirely accurate). The enter and cancel buttons are reversed, and when I checked into that I found you can get it fixed (In Japan, the buttons are reversed. When it was sent to america, the programming wasn't changed, only the labeling). It also works for the PS2 main menu, so it can be used for CD's as well. If you are looking for multiple functions, get the other ones. If you just want to watch your DVDs, buy this.

I got my PS2 a month ago from the Adventure game set which includes this remote. It works reasonably ie handles all the basic functions but it has its downsides. You have be lined up and aimed directly at the receiver for it to work. If ANYTHING is blocking the path. Signal won't get through. There is a noticable delay when I click the buttons and sometimes the selection doesn't always work - I assume because I neglected to point the remote straight at the receiver. Also, the labelling of the "Enter" and "Cancel" buttons seem to be reversed. To make a selection I have to hit "cancel" and to go back I have to hit "enter". I thought this was a mistake but when I checked out the website for this, the describtion for these buttons functions apparently are accurate. Not a major problem when you remember the positioning of the buttons. This remote, as a Master Remote, can also switch to TV mode so you can adjust the volume and channel surf but that's it. If you use the TV/Video button to switch from the TV to the playstation you'll have to use your regular remote. Despite all this I use the remote just fine. Another plus in its favour, I heard with other remotes you have to detachg the remote to use the controller or you get problems ... well none here. I keep the remote in the second controller position and use the first slot for my Dual Shock 2 controller. And they work fine.

Better than most other remotes,

This remote is nice, and works very well. Its range is nice for a small room, but nothing more than that. It does everything a normal dvd remote would do. No complaints really; its just different because its ment for a game system. Its shape is nice and round, and is fairly light to hold. Its two bad points are that it has to be pointed just the right way at the port, or it will stall a bit. You also have to really hold down forward and back to get the movies to rewind and skip. Its o.k. Wait for something better.

I bought this remote at the same time I purchased my PS2. It doesn't work with the vast majority of the movies that I rent, and I end up using the game controller, which in the end is just fine.

Depsite other reveiws it is great. In all the movies i've whatched using it it has worked fine, even great. I have owned it for monthes and has no technical signs of wear. One slight problem is the fact that you can only have one controller and one memory card in at a time. I would definitely recommend it.

When I picked up my PS2 I grab this thing too. It looked cool and said did all the same things as the other remotes.Home, this thing is backwards. I don't know if it is just mine or what, but when I have to hit enter I actually have to hit 'cancel'. I would have bought a different one if I had known (even if it looked dorky).

I got this with the original Best Buy bonus pack that came with The Matrix and a bunch of other junk. I like it because it's the only remote that I own that hasn't broken yet. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why it would stop a movie when I pushed the play button, I figured out that the play and stop button are backwards. How this got by quality control is beyond me! Otherwise, what can I say? It works....

When I bought my PS2 I bought this remote less than 6 months ago. It does not work any more. One day it just stoped working. At first I thougt the batteries might be dead but when I put new ones in it still didn't work. I didn't drop it or anything I've actualy been very carefull with the entire system having spent over a grand on the system accessories and games already. I just ordered the remote by Sony and I hope that one will last longer.
