4.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
This game pad was lousy, it was too hard to get the pads to acknowlege if we were even doing it right. Not a good buy, would not stay straight, too soft.

These pads are like most ddr pads out there: poorly constructed and not durable. The pad slides around when you play on it, and one of the buttons stopped working about 8 days after I bought it. I thought I'd pick up a cheap one since I needed an extra pad when friends came over.

Do yourself a favor and head over to RedOctane.com for some quality pads. I have their Ignition pad, which is way better than this type of cheap pad because it has a cushioned insert which slips into the middle and keeps the pad from sliding around and is easier on your feet. Another friend has the regular redoctane pad with pad cover and it works great, too. Overall, don't buy the Intec pad unless you know you won't be playing DDR for very long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just for starters....then on to better things, November 16, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Dance Mat (Video Game)
This pad is great for begginers. Durabiltiy shouldnt be a deciding factor when buying this pad(this pad isn't as durable as others out there) mainly because this pad is for starters. Once you get used to DDRMAX, you'll wanna go and invest in a more expensive pad, maybe an import hard pad. But for now, this should do. Not new to DDR?..then this pad is NOT for YOU. Dancers with experience shouldn't bother with this pad. The pad is a head-ache for intermediates, a waste of time for experts, but a good buy for begginers. I have this pad, mainly for for my friends new to DDR, but also have a hard pad for the more experienced players. NOTE to Begginers: This pad will reqire more percise movements in order to work properly, but in the long shot, using the hard pad later on will seem very easy once you master this pad. (...)you cant go wrong starting out with this pad.

*Be careful where you use the pad, make sure it's in a stable-non slippery surface or you will slip- most pads are like that- even those that claim to have non slip under surface. It all depends on where the user choses to place the pad.

*For those who have never seen a hard pad for sale...you are looking at anywhere between $80-$100, maybe more. They're not that easy to find unless there's a local import market near you. So, (...) start with this one, wear it out, and move on to more finer pads.

On a last note...there is a Mad Cats Pad available....but it's the same quality as this with different designs. I have tried the MAd Cats Pad and its all the same. The Red Ocatne pad is also great, but falls between $40-$50, Not for a tight budget.

1.0 out of 5 stars Soft pads are for little kids and novices, August 4, 2004

If you have any aspirations of actually becoming a decent Dance Dance Revolution player and moving up to the more challenging and satisfying songs, do not buy this pad -- or any soft pad, for that matter.

Soft pads slide on the floor. They crumple and wrinkle up. They miss steps and fail to register sometimes. The surface feels the same all over, making it impossible to tell where your feet are without looking down.

More advanced soft pads are available, which are thicker, but they still slide and have sensitivity problems.

The only way to properly enjoy DDR at home is to purchase a metal pad. Just look up "metal DDR pad" on an internet auction site. Yes, they are expensive, but they'll also last for a very, very long time and put up with a lot of abuse. They also won't slide, will be extremely sensitive, and you can tell where your feet are without looking down. If you want the arcade experience at home, a metal pad is the only way to get it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for beginners but get one on eBay!, March 2, 2005

This mat is okay for beginners. It won't last too long for advance users but this mat is a great way for a beginners to learn how to play. Some people recommend duct tapping plywood on the bottom of the mat some it responds better, but if you get a mat anywhere, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting one on eBay. Usually, they are brand new and factory sealed. They usually come in a sets of two (one for you and a friend) and sell for about $8.50 like this one (either in XBox or PS2) and $15.95 for shipping (The Buy It Now price on eBay is usually $8.50 but you can still bid on it to save a couple of bucks). Shipping for these mats on amazon.com are $4.49 for 3-5 day shipping and $8.98 for two day shipping so you still come out ahead on eBay. I got a mat that retails for $130 (its sort of like the mat that sells for $99 here; its more expensive because it has extra padding and it will last longer) for $20 and $25 dollar shipping. For hardcore fans who really got some moves and play the DDR games a lot, eBay has the metal dance mats with the bar (looks exactly like the one in the arcades) for about $150 (not including shipping). Otherwise, this is an awesome mat but if you want to save money and get one for when a friend comes over, get one on eBay (if you get one on eBay, search ddr or search ddr extreme).

2.0 out of 5 stars non-official dance pad provides bad playability, April 15, 2002
By
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Dance Mat (Video Game)
non-offical. that word alone should prevent you from buying this piece of crud. If you were to buy any dance pad for DDR, your best choice would be to go with Red Octane, since Konami aproved it to be the best 3rd party support pad and stoped creating their own pads because Red Octane was so good. However, Red Octane is a little pricy, so the reason this pad gets 2 stars instead of one is because the cheapness allows you to buy 4 of these for the price of one red octane. don't expect this to last you a month though, and the fact that this pad doesnt even LOOK like a DDR pad makes it even worse. its confusing, and ugly. Take it from DDR masters, get red octane, or those hella expensive hard top ones.

I first started playing DDR at a friend's birthday party, where I got hooked on it and asked for it for my own birthday. Well, knowing my parents, they got me DDR just as I asked. (They love it when I excersize without them bugging me, I bet they thought DDR was a gift from heaven. xD) Along with DDRMax 2, they got me this soft dance pad, and for a while, it did great. I got better and better, and eventually, I progressed to Standard mode. That was when the madness began. At first, it was just the fact that it got scrunched up like a raisin after a fast song. And also, it slid under the couch or onto the wall mid-play, causing me to fail the song. And then, it got worse. Sometimes I would press a button, but it would not register. And the most annoying of all is when it registered when I wasn't even standing on it! It would just incessantly press the -> or <- buttons until I wiggled the buttons around enough to make it stop! The nice thing was, however, that after I got DDR Extreme, I got a new dance pad, same as the first. I had it all along, just in case a friend wanted to play. So, I hooked it up, and played on my "new" one. By then I played on Heavy mode (I rock =P), and the "new" dance mat lasted about... 5 days. And with that one, I accidentally stepped on the black hard "thing" on the front connecting to the wire. Now, the up arrow occasionally won't register any of my steps every other song. I have to wiggle around the black "thing" to get the up arrow to even work at all! Ok... the moral of my story is... if you are just beginning, this pad is for you. If you play on Standard, I wouldn't consider it. If you play on Heavy, don't sue me for damage to your floor when you take a chainsaw and slice the mat into shreds. If you play on Oni Mode (DDRMax), then don't even make direct eye contact with this product. It'll drive you to insanity. If you want a quality dance mat, buy a RedOctane 2.0 Ignition Pad. It's well worth the money.

Ok...I just got the Intec dance mat yestarday so I can use on Dance Dance Revolution KonamiX. At first it worked great. And then just today, the up arrow got messed up. Well this Dance mat is good for the 1st day then after that BOOM! If you got it at Toys R us you cant get your money back for this [upsetting] mat, you can only get a exchange...Well anyway get a better mat that has be tested by pro DDR players ... Dont just go to a store and pick some [dumb] 3rd party mat. Well I guess im gonna exchange it and enjoy my game for one more day. Ill make another review
and tell how it works after the exchange. Well really dont buy it. it [bites].

The Dance Mat is horrible for playing Dance Dance Revolution games. It slips on the floor alot, it doesn't last very long, and just the design is bad. You have to actually step ON the arrows to get the pressure pads to work, but they're placed farther apart than standard DDR arrows, so you'll have to move your feet differently than you normally would. Do yourself a favor and get a mat with regular arrows.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst pad ever., December 2, 2003
By
Emily (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Dance Mat (Video Game)
Broke the day I got it, the sewing in the lining was totally off, they just MISSED half the edges. Should have expected as much from an Intec product. Worst waste of $20 ever. I bought it as a backup pad so I could play with a friend that evening, it didn't even last the night. The foam on the inside was very bunched up and none of the buttons pressed right, it slid, and the more you danced the more bunched up it got. It's unusable now. If you don't have enough money for a nice pad, then don't just settle for this junk, it's just a waste of your money.

Okay, let me tell you a little something about this item. About a year ago my friends and I had a party, and we played ddr. As soon as i started, i was obsessed! About 2 weeks later, since I already had a Playstation2, I decided that DDR would be a great thing to buy. I went and bought DDR and needed to get a mat. I got this mat because it was cheap. Unfortuneately, this pad only lasted 3 weeks. It was in perfect condition for only a week. Soon after that, the mat was so slippery when I would press the down button, it would slide so far, that the wire would unplug out of the PS2. LAter, the rubber on the wire started to peel off.It would start registering buttons when I was off the mat! IF you want to buy this mat, it will last only a week.
