I bought this bundle after I burned out my original ps2 console. i was looking for the cheapest new ps2, ( i don't like buying used consoles, too many bad issues in the past).

For the same price as all the other ps2's, at the time, this one came with a movie and lego batman. I thought why not.

So far the ps2 is working wonderfully. Much...

I purchaced this bundle for my 7yr old nephew and he absolutely loves it; a no brainer because what kid wouldn't love a PS2!? Throwing in Lego Batman and a Justice League DVD only sweetens the deal and gives the kid a good family game and movie right out of the box. If you're looking to introduce your young one to videogaming but don't think they're ready for(or don't want to pay for) one of the current generation consoles, than I would definately recommend this PS2 bundle!

I bought the system for about 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. I got it when it was still $129.99 so its like getting Lego Btman and the movie for free!
Likes:
the simplicity of the system
very slim and light! really different from the older version i saw from my friend's house
the bundle deal is really great and i love lego games already (havent have the chance to see the movie yet)
Game library: probably the best one out there. I am hopingn to get Kingdom Hearts, Katamari, Simpson Hit&run, Final Fantasy X, Shadow of Colossus, Grand Thelf Auto and Metal Solid Gear collection soon
Dislikes:
None!

Rating: 10/10 Highly recommend since the new version of PS3's no longer has the backward compatible with PS2 games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for good price, December 16, 2008

We had a playstation II game that the power connection to it became bad after a couple of years or so, so we ordered a new one. We looked around at other game systems out there, but they are a lot more expensive and we already had quite a few games that our kids love playing on playstation II. I bought the game packaged with "Lego Batman" for $129, which my 6 yr old son loves playing and so does his 12 yr old sister. The order through Amazon was very prompt and came quickly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well it's a big step up from the SNES........., May 29, 2009

I'm sure someone has snorted a beverage of choice out their nose already just from the title, but yes, it's true.

No, really, I'm not living in a cave or a grass hut. I really do have working plumbing and electric lights and everything. My pet isn't a Snorkasaurus named Dino, either. I swear.

My last console was a Super Nintendo. Okay, so that was a couple of years ago... or decades ... I forget... they say the mind is the first thing to go.

On a more serious bend, however, I've been a light PC gamer instead of a console person. That's the real reason I've gone from SNES to PS2, but there are some games I really wanted to play which didn't come out for the PC and are PS only. Now that the consoles have gone down in price so much, I finally bought myself one.

So far, I can say for the raw beginner:

It's extremely easy to set up. The instructions are nice and clear. If you're a long time gamer that won't mean anything to you but hey... this is new territory for me.

It's tiny. I couldn't believe how much they've shrunk. The unit itself is small, sleek, and portable. It's about the size of a hard back book.

I chose this bundle because it came with a game. Right now I'm learning how to use the control pad, so I didn't want anything too complex to start out. Lego Batman has been perfect for me so far.

My one complaint is there are numerous PS2 bundles both here and in other places. This is what knocked it from a 5 to a 4 star rating for me. This one came with a movie, which was a nice bonus, but I had to ask myself "why a movie?" Yes, I know the PS2 will play DVDs, but it would have been nice to see either another game or a memory card instead.

I understand the PS2 doesn't come with a memory card in any case, but if they're going to bundle PS2 items together (or a movie), why not a memory card? It would seem to make more sense, and I would have been happy to even pay a little more for it had they included that in one of their bundles.

Overall, this has been a great buy for me and one I'd recommend to anyone who wasn't a hard core gamer who's advanced into the the newest consoles out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars 33 year old fun, January 27, 2009

I know they say lego's are for kids, but some of us are kids at heart. This is a wonderful game. Being hard of hearing its actually quite nice that the story is told through text and bodymovement and facial expressions. So many times games have speaking parts that are hard to hear and no settings for the hearing impared.

This is a wonderful game, the best part is that even once you finish a segmant, there is more to go back and get once you go into freeplay mode. Its the game that keeps on giving. Highly recomended for anyone.

Cheers!
Wilwarin

4.0 out of 5 stars A LOT OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK PS2: 9.5 PACKAGE DEAL: 8.5, January 20, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Limited Edition LEGO Batman Bundle (Video Game)
FORGET THE PLAYSTATION 3 (KILL IT SONY, PLEASE, JUST DO IT), IT'S THE PLAYSTATION 2 YOU WANT! This is quite a nice package deal for anyone who wants to get in one the Playstation 2 craze and find out why it's the most-beloved console in history. This isn't perfect package, there are mishaps that could have been easily dealt with.
WHAT THE PACKAGE IS: A PS2, a copy of Lego Batman, and an animated DVD of Justice League Heroes, and the price for all of this is a steal. The PS2 may have been the weakest console when it came to overall horsepower during the last-generation console war, but it's library toppled the other two consoles (I still love you, Xbox! As for the Gamecube? Go to hell you piece of crap!). When you get the PS2, you are allowed access to more than a whopping 2,400 titles! Whatever your gaming preference, the PS2 has got it, which still gives you plenty of reasons to wait out on buying one of the newer consoles.
PACKAGE DEAL: The PS2 is a fantastic system. I've only owned this package since October and I've since built a collection of more than 20 titles. However, what's provided here isn't that great. Lego Batman is one of my least favorite PS2 games and in my review of it, months ago I only gave it a rating of 7. It just wasn't impressive and got very repetitive at times. The only things that really saved it from disaster was multiplayer and collectibles. I'm not going to review it again. If you want to read what I have to say about it, go find the review. I never watched the Justice League DVD, I just gave it to a friend because I'm not really into super hero stuff. It was also sort of a glaring problem when Sony doesn't provide a memory card; the device inserted into either of the two slots to save your data. And those memory cards aren't cheap either.
GAME LIBRARY: This is where the system really shines to the point of blindness from all of its greatness. It's got Resident Evil 4, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Killer 7, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, the Tekken series, the Virtua Fighter series, God of War series, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, tons of arcade collections like Sega Genesis Collection, sports titles like Madden and the Hot Shots Golf series, and so much more awaits you when you make the wise decision of purchasing this mind-blowing console. A single game on the console can suck you in for hours and hours of entertainment. The library is that good. Though with the great games, are boatloads of crap so be warned. I'm not really going to go into hardware specifics, but this is a rather nifty console that even keeps track of current dates. Not to mention, the system is very easy to install taking maybe 5-10 minutes to hook up. The system can also play DVDs which is also a nice feature. There are even some online games left if you're into that (Though I'm not). You can play original Playstation games on the system as well, and to me it seemed like the PSone games ran better on PS2 than they did on the original which is also a plus.
OVERALL: If you're a gamer and you don't own a Playstation 2, you should be ashamed of yourself because you're missing out on some best gaming experiences.
THE GOOD: The PS2 itself and the massive library and tons of features.
THE BAD: The package is not so great; no memory card, Lego Batman is only average at best, and most may never watch the Justice League film inside.
