4.0 out of 5 stars Great microphone for a reasonable price
The Playstation 2 Headset Microphone by Logitech lets you talk with your online friends, play games with voice commands, and much more!

I have already burned through two of these. The first was the one that came with SOCOM I. I used it when I bought SOCOM II. It just stopped working shortly afterwards.

Despite being livid that SOCOM II did not COME with a headset, I went out and bought another one for $35 anyway.

Within 2 weeks, that one wasn't working anymore either.

Don't buy this product...

The Playstation 2 Headset Microphone by Logitech lets you talk with your online friends, play games with voice commands, and much more!

The Logitech unit has a leather-like padded earpiece on one ear and just a plastic part on the other side to hold the unit on your head. It's relative comfortable, although after an hour or two it can start to be sore. However, if you talk to any receptionist that wears headsets all day long, you'll realize that comfort costs money - if you really want a unit that you can wear all day, you need to pay the money for that kind of unit. This PS2 unit is only $30 or so, and doesn't really qualify.

There's a microphone part that does have an adjustable arm in the sense that you can bend it in and out, but it isn't "extendable", i.e. you can't make it longer or shorter. This might work well for someone with a typical sized head, but if your head happens to be larger or smaller, the microphone won't end up near your mouth.

Some versions of this unit come with a mute, while others don't. Ours doesn't have a mute but I really don't see this as important - any game you play with a microphone comes with some sort of a mute option. We are currently using this unit with Lifeline which is a single person adventure game, so mute really doesn't matter. Other PS2 games with microphones all handle voice issues well.

The unit is pretty sturdy and handles wear well. Like any piece of electronics, you get out of it what you put into it. If you fling it around and step on it, it's going to break. We've treated ours reasonably well, and it's held up quite well in return.

This microphone headset simply plugs into the USB port provided on any PS2 unit. The port is found beneath the regular controller port location.

A great unit if you play games that involve voice commands.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little uncomfortable but otherwise great, October 30, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation 2 USB Headset (Video Game)
Before I start there's a couple things you should know.

First off, I bought an earlier Version of this about a year ago. The only big difference is that mine has a foam earpiece and the new one is leather.

Also, I did buy mine for my PS2 but after a couple months of use I decided to make the switch to CPU gaming. To my joy this headset worked fine on my CPU via the USB port and I use is routinely on TS.

Sound-As far as hearing other people, it's great. I can easilly equalize the voice over volume with that of my game. People I'm talking to say I sound great so I'll take their word for it.

Comfort-this is where this device fell a bit short for me. Yes, it is better than the average headset in terms of "I can't even tell it's there" status, but not by much. The mic is a little too close to the mouth and it can get touchy at time. The headphone also gets really muggy and makes my ear hot. Other than those two problems though, it's quite comfortable.

FEATURES-wow! There's alot to go for here. Volume control, mute button, shirt clip on... It's got it all. All these features work well and do exactly what they should.

OVERALL-This is a great mid-priced headset with high dollar features.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Headset, February 24, 2006

Aside from using it with PS2 games like Socom & SSX3, this also works great with my PC games like Battlefield 2 & the voice system service (Ventrilo) for World of Warcraft. Sound quality is good, feedback is good, from what I can tell others can hear me very clearly as well. Only bad things, I wish it were louder, sometimes you can't hear a quite person's voice and another speaker for the other ear.

Overall: 4/5, good piece of equipment for games & VoIP services.

I don't know about other people, how they treat their equipment and whatnot. But I bought this headset for Christmas for my husband and he loves it. He takes good care of it and has never had any problems with it.

Don't buy this product. Wait until they put a little effort into making them either cheaper to buy or better all-around products.

This Logitech headset isnt worth it. I play Socom II a lot and after about 3 weeks it broke. Before that I had another logitech and that one broke too. I was really fragile with this because they cost $30 and I didnt want to have to buy another one. This isnt worth your money.

The ps2 USB headset is amazing. I play madden 2005 online all the time, and the headset just makes everything SO much fun. You can meet new people and make new friends from all over the world, or you can choose a different route and just trash talk a lot which is just as fun too...it plugs straight into one of the two usb ports on the front of your ps2, and the wire is definitely the perfect length. Its long enough to be able to reach good distances, without having a huge mess full of wires all over the floor. You can mute your opponents so they can no longer hear you but you can hear them. All in all, the headset definitely gets the job done, and for just 30 bucks, its definitely worth it! highly recommended! (also look into the Wireless Controller from Logitech, its great...read my review)

This headset works very well- I would use this instead of a microphone because you don't have to hold it. I bought two because I like them so much. You don't have to put them together you just have to plug them in! And there is a volume dial so you can turn up the volume of the earphone on the side. It works very well and I would definitely recommend it to anybody!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good when it works...., July 4, 2004
This review is from: PlayStation 2 USB Headset (Video Game)
I am about to purchase my third headset for playing Socom2. The first two have broken when suddenly it funtions sporadically and then finally dies. I am sure a wire comes loose in the ear piece. I have treated the headset carefully and have never dropped it/ pulled on the wires etc. They need to make a more durable headset for the money !!!
When it does work for the first four or five months it is great. I wish there were more third party headsets so I would have more choices when my next one breaks !!! Lots of people playing online have also had this problem.

This is a nice headset for the first few weeks. But it breaks TOO easily, you have to watch this headset as if it was an infant. I'm going to try to find another tougher headset (...).
