If you have seen the Sony's Conference footage in New-York, NY USA today, the PS4 has a target of the Holiday quarter this 2013.

Which means I predict September to November as the months they can target best. I think that November is most likely.

As for games on the new console; Knack and Killzone: Shadow-Front on PS4 looked amazing and showcased the raw talent it has to offer. There were other games demoed like Ubisofts Watchdogs and spoofs of Final Fantasy from Square-Enix and Bungie's Destiny for the upcoming PS4.

Blizzard has made its presence known once again to us in the PlayStation Universe, reminding us of their humble console/system roots. Chris Metzen Senior Vice President of story and franchise development of Blizzard says that they want to bring games such as Diablo III to you from the comfort of your living room couch and that they are passionate about console play, they have held back because they said "how do we do this?" and they finally have an answer, as the famous PC series returns to grace us on both the PS3 and PS4- Blizzard looks forward to seeing us all across Tristram and in future games from them.

I will go with Sony on this console war....although I have a PS3 and a Xbox360. I like the ps4 has 8 GB RAM , ps3 only had 256 MB vs the 512 of x360 , but now it seems Sony managed to wake up and beef its Machine with more Ram. Good , can`t wait for December , let Us hope it doesnt happen the same like the PS3 that initially costed almost 1200 $ Economy is bad enough to take all Humble people`s earnings

It's about the games to me. Good games = my money.

I personally like the 360 quite a bit more than the ps3, but I'll give Sony another shot if the ps4 is good.

Watchdogs looks like a fun game, as well as the new Killzone.

Yeah, I agree. I'm thinking that console war BS don't really belong in here, I just wanted to discuss about the PS4 and it's games with everyone.

PC, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony- it dont matter to me unless the games are good and I think PS4 has a great launch lineup so far. I love my Ps3. :]

I can't decide if I'm excited about ps1, ps2, and ps3 games becoming available via streaming, or bummed I have dozens of CDs that are still useless. (Not shocked.) Buying the same games twice, fine. I'll continue playing ancient games until they start making better new games.

Streaming is the one thing that might keep me loyal to playstation. Though I'm still smarting from Xbox getting all the games I thought about trying. I'm holding off on my decision until I'm sure I won't make the same mistake I made with PS3.

Connecting me to social media via my playstation? No thanks, take it out and cut the cost.

ps2goat says:
Either the price of the console needs to meet consumers' budgets or Sony needs to lower the licensing fee to get games back to $30-$40 for for first party games.
$60/game + $700 for the console is what killed its potential user base, and it's only been struggling to gain ground since then by removing features from the console.

Console emulation should not be expensive to emulate, though, if the machine is built well. Look at all the virtual machines we can have on a reasonably priced computer. That is one feature that needs to be reimplemented, even if it is only ps1 and ps2 games.

Anyone knows if it's backwards compatible with PS3 game discs? Sorry, I'm outdated.

@Elmindreda:

I can understand your point and frustration.

While all I know and want is... the ever promised Cross Party Chat. PS4 Cross-Party Chat anyone?

PS3 just didn't have it and I can't see why not aside the Ram setup issue. Sony technically said with the Ps3, "meh" lets wait until the next console instead cause it's easier. I had became a PS Plus member cause of Party chat and ended up liking the other features as well so I held on hoping it would lead to party-chat like they wanted to offer originally. So far we have no confirmation on PS4 having Cross-Party chat built-in. Even so It's now got 8GBs of Ram which can be used to run the already beefed XMB and cross chat if it has it.

After all its 2013 and not the freaking 1990's. LoL!
(I mean that the tech we have now is much better. Ya know?)

@Abraham C.:
Not planned, but they are going to allow older titles digitally via their cloud/store services.

@ps2goat

From the leaked news around the web, there will be two models: a $429 and a $529. Not bad compared to the PS3s launch hehe. It is just rumors but, there was many PS4 rumors before the event and a good majority were true =o

With the system, you get a headset, and that playstation eye/move bar. Sounds like you get alot for what you pay.

Deadcell says:
1) BC with streaming = may be a PS+ feature, but aside from that... internet is all you'll pay for
2) Online multiplayer = again, internet is all you'll pay for. They said online will be free, like the PS3.
3) Cloud service = part of PS+, only available if you want it.
4) PSN purchases = If backwards compatibilty streaming is available, I'd say we should be able to play those games. Most of them anyway.

Like most other hardcore gamers, I really hate that a headset comes in the box. That means EVERY screaming 10 year old will now have a mic.

I'd prefer the headset be extra. As long as I can use my Turtle Beach PX5's, I won't need a headset.

but xbox only have 2 games more and now the have lost one of them (halo). I don't really need to mention the other one because, well, there's just one option.

@David Cuadrado:
Personally, I would not care about exclusives too much, I just care if the game is good or not and that you are playing it on the best console that you want to if its a multi-platform title.

@DeadCell:
You have made a good point, we have already got many kids screaming at us on the PS3 and it didn't come with a mic in the box. Why put a dedicated headset in the box?

I mean, obviously if it works for Microsoft then Sony should do it. Cause there are more than just kids out there. There is us, people whom are their parents or the people like you and I that come home from work/collage probably just like their parent does too.

I see it as the Parent's responsibility to keep their kids off the mic until they are much older and it's also their responsibility to give them games rated E until they get to T at the proper age and so on. Systems like ESRB and PEGI are there for a reason and Parents should use them.

But parents should also realize that if you do game, be responsible and play that M/PEG18+ rated game with headset on, far away from the living room where the kiddies will get their hands on your stuff and lock it up when your done.

If you wondered PEGI is the system used in the UK and Major parts of the EU, I realize that Amazon has a .co.uk site but I felt I should mention the other rating system in-case anyone needed it for context reasons. Cause it doesn't matter where you are, game safe with your kids and for the love of god almighty let us older gamers play in peace without hearing your kids screaming online into a headset. Cause nobody needs or wants that.

Also Thanks for the pointing out this:
1) BC with streaming = may be a PS+ feature, but aside from that... internet is all you'll pay for
2) Online multiplayer = again, internet is all you'll pay for. They said online will be free, like the PS3.
3) Cloud service = part of PS+, only available if you want it.
4) PSN purchases = If backwards compatibilty streaming is available, I'd say we should be able to play those games. Most of them anyway.

I already felt that PS Plus is going to evolve at some point to accommodate the PS4's features.

@M. J. Arruda:
Price point is still not confirmed, however I think 350-500 pricing is possible again like the PS3. I agree though it looks like we finally got our full money's worth with the PS4. At least I feel that way about the launch package anyways.

@Josh:
Correct, muting is a thing of beauty and I played SOCOM 4 alot- the community is talkative and none used the turtles from whom I've met.

@littlm16:

The PS4 is definitely a step up from where the PS3 was, so how is it any different from a iPhone you say? Well for one its a console not a mobile device, for two this is a console that will not sit in the dark ages as I feel they have heard all of our concerns as gamers about PS3 and not just yours. Everyone has a say not just you.

Edit: Going from 256MB to 8GBs of ram I call that a major upgrade.
