4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad.
Not better than Xbox, and after November, isn't worth buying
Reviewer: Nuckles87 from Spotsylvania, VA USA

Nice lil console. Depends on your taste though. Personally, I liked it, but as I am more into action games and arcade-esque shooters, I've personally had more fun with the Xbox. Online game-wise, Xbox is by far a better deal, especially when True Fantasy...

The pack is great for Ali buffs. I do not mind paying extra for the pack to get the gloves, but I wish I could change some of the games since my kids are not really into hockey.

Nice lil console. Depends on your taste though. Personally, I liked it, but as I am more into action games and arcade-esque shooters, I've personally had more fun with the Xbox. Online game-wise, Xbox is by far a better deal, especially when True Fantasy Online, Halo 2, and Steel Battallion: Line of Contact arrives...

But, putting online games aside, PS2 is an awsome deal. Has the best, and most, RPGs of any current console (other than the over bloated Final Fantasy franchise of course). But, like other consoles, PS2 isn't perfect. Buy it if you like platformers, traditional RPGs, or hardcore racers.

4.0 out of 5 stars YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME !!!, June 13, 2003

...As a gamer who's owned anything & everything from Atari 2600 to Xbox, I can tell you that it's all a matter of preference. The Sega Genesis was more of a sports-geared machine; Nintendo has always developed their systems with children in mind and a video-game as a toy; Sony is directed towards adult gamers (and believe me, there are a lot of us) as exemplified by the content of their games & multi-media aspect (the PS2 can play DVD's); as for the Xbox, well Bill Gates just wants to take over the world.

This is not to say that the power of a machine doesn't matter folks. The original Sega Master System (SMS) was more powerful than its rival, the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The NES was by far more successful than the SMS! $$$ But how did the NES defeat the SMS? The answer lies in the library of games. Multi-million dollar deals are made/broken every single day in the U.S.A; a lot of these within the gaming industry. Developers strike up deals to develop a game for one system but not the others. What does this mean to the consumer? Look at the games & not so much from a graphics point of view. A game can be extremely sophisticated but still remain mediocre overall if the gameplay has not been developed well, in other words: The game will suck if it is not fun.

Always consider your audience & ask a lot of questions: Who am I buying the game system for? Why am I buying this for him/her?? This PS2 pack is geared towards the boxing, if not Sports, aficionado. If you have the extra money to burn for the gloves, then by all means splurge. Otherwise, you are better off buying the system, games & accessories separately elsewhere. With the price drop to $180 on the PS2, there are deals aplenty everywhere you go.

My apologies for starting the review off on such a negative note, but it is upsetting, I am sure you'd agree, to read such ignorant comments.

I think this is a great value pack for some kid so rich he doesnt even need a value or low price. The games are okay, great for slumber parties if you have the mulitap. The boxing gloves I dont really care about. No kid really needs this package. If your divorced and you want to be your kid's favorite parent get this!

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy A Gamecube, February 28, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: PlayStation 2 Muhammad Ali Pack with Signed Gloves (Video Game)
When I first heard of PS2, I thought this would definitely be the system too buy. When I had bought it, I realized all the hype about it was false. I kept chucking the controller down when it took 5 minutes to load Madden 2002. The loading time was outrageously long. Then in late November, when Gamecube had come out, I bought it...SO then when, I had bought Gamecube along with Rouge Leader, which was good, I waited anxiouly for Super Smash Brothers Melee. AND WAS IT GOOD! Nintendo had come out with a game in they're first month with the Gamecube than had PS2 had ever had...Nintendo has way better games than even PS2... And for you people who think Gamecube has kiddie games... like how Nintendo is sticking to Zelda. Well I don't think most "kiddies" can beat Zelda. Gamecube has Metroid Prime, Rouge Spear, Eternal Darkness Sanity's Return, Six Resident Evil Games...in the making and much more still to come out...Gamecube is the system to get and has more third party developers than any other console. Just wait to they get more games out and we'll see who will win the console war.
