PSP Slim delivers,

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: PlayStation Portable Limited Edition Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver (Video Game)
NOTE: The Rachet game, the family guy collection and the memory stick only come with the 199.99 bundle. The 169.99 PSP Black Slim does not come with these items.
The new PSP is 19% thinner and 30% lighter. Should definitely notice the difference as soon as its in your hands. Here are the pros and cons Pros: + Video Out to your TV. Watch your UMD movies and Games on your screen. This is the perhaps the best feature of any handheld. + Much lighter, feels really good in your hands. + The D-Pad has been upgrades. Fighting Game Lovers rejoice! + The analog nub also feels more responsive. + Buttons are raised making them easier to click. + The LCD is brighter, has a higher refresh rate and the colors are more vibrant. + UMD games load faster. + The memory has been doubled in this unit to allow developers to build caches they can then use to make games load much faster. + Even games that dont implement caches, load faster due to an automatic new caching done by the system. + Ability to eat less battery life. + Daxter Game is included! This is one of the best games for the PSP + 1Gig memory stick is included. + Family Guy freaking sweet collection UMD included. + Price. For $200 you are getting a lot. PSP system, a game, family guy compilation, a new color, and memory stick. All for $30 more than PSP slim black. I would definitely recommend getting the bundle. Cons: -Yes the packaging is a bit cheap. -UMD tray may not impress. It feels cheaper. Hopefully you guys enjoy this little system. It really is a sexy looking thing and with critically acclaimed titles like crush and Jeanne d'arc and other games like Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core, Wipeout Pulse, and God of War over the horizon, you wouldn't be a true gamer without one. If you like your handheld games at the same quality as your console games then what are you waiting for. pick this up.

I'd never played with a PSP until yesterday. I'd see a friend of mine playing Lumines when it first came out, but that was about it.
Now I begin to see what I'd been missing. I bought the PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver version of the PSP hardware yesterday on something of a whim. I'd heard decent things, read some reviews and thought it might be a good investment. Plus, hey,Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions was out, and I wanted to play that. I turned out to be a good purchase! The unit itself is very well-designed and comfortable to use. The display screen is incredibly vivid and bright. The interface is nicely designed. I had a few problems getting onto the internet at first, but I managed to resolve those within a few minutes (the little web-browser they have built-in to the software is... ok. Not great, but it gets the job done). In fact, about the only thing I would have liked that did not come with this system was a USB cable. Fortunately I was able to find one at my local game store and now I can hook this sucker directly up to my computer. Very useful, given that I now am able to play MP3s on my PSP, as well as store photos! In addition to the system, I also got a one gig memory chip. That's pretty handy! It also came with Daxter, which I haven't played too much, but it's proving fun. It also came with Family Guy - The Freakin Sweet Collection (UMD Mini for PSP). Alone, these items would likely add quite a bit more to the expense, but they came included for only a little more than the system itself (I sold the UMD, however. Why? Well, partly cause I have that same product on DVD and partly cause I just don't "get" the whole UMD thing. They're overpriced, have no extras and just aren't very interesting). I've owned and enjoyed a Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Black, but I gotta say this little system is worlds away. You get video games, internet access, an MP3 player, a movie player (though not my thing, as mentioned), and a picture viewer, all for not too much more than a DS. Nintendo, I love you, but in this case Sony has the best product (don't hate me!). The only down-sides I see is that this is not a system for younger kids (what with the UMD discs), and it is a little larger than the DS. It would be nice if it came with a wrist strap, since I'm sure dropping it would have tragic consequences, and as I said before I would've liked to have had a USB cable in the box. But still, I'm happy with what I bought and I think you would be, too!

The new PSP is everything you could ever want in a handheld! I finally got my hands on one after about a month and a half of eager waiting and I am ready to review!
Pros: +33% Lighter than the last psp: This feature is really good and is actually very noticible. With the old PSP (that my brother purchased awhile back) my wrist actually would get tired after while because it was a little clunky. But this was not the case this time around. I've played daxter 50% through the game, and I havn't had any problems. It's the perfect wieght, and you will notice it right out of the box! +19% Slimmer: The humps on the back of the old psp were not bad, but the straight back of the new one is phenomenal! It feels so comfortable in your hand it's rediculous! Not a much needed change, but a very appreciated one. +New UMD Bay: The new UMD Bay is very nice! Alot of people feel that it's really cheap, but I like it way better! It's much less complex than the other, which is very good! With the other one, I actually messed up one of my brothers games trying to get it in there. +Faster Loading Times: The faster times are not a dramatic improvement, but you can most definately tell! Two games with probably the worst loading times on PSP are Mortal Kombat Unchained and GTA: Vice City Stories. Both games still have an undesirble amount of loading in the actual game itself, but the added flash memory makes it much less painful. I actually have time to enjoy those games now! And yes, 5 seconds does make a difference! +Video Out: Very nice feature! I went ahead and bought the cables with a gift card I had to target, and I was very pleased. I think it's pretty cool to hook it up and play daxter on your tv, and watch family guy as well! I had fun with that! +Better D-pad and Analog Nub: You can tell that the D-pad and analog nub are way more responsive! I was very impressed when I was playing my mortal kombat game. It was much more responsive than the last PSP. +Battery Life: I can tell a difference in battery life. It seems like this thing last forever. I've had it since Thursday(9/6/07) and I've only charged it once! +Package Contents: It comes with one of the greatest PSP games, and probably the most funniest show on the planet! It also comes with a 1gb memory stick, which is a very good improvement over the 32 MB. This value would definately be $240 sold sepertately. So this bundle saves you a good 40 bucks! Which is gas money for me! :) Cons: -Glossy Finish: After awhile it gets really annoying, especially if your hands start to sweat. It makes the psp look extremely nice, don't get me wrong, but I much rather prefer comfort over looks. And the glossy finish isn't a real winner with me, but it will do! -Daxter and Family guy Packaging: I was kind of upset that daxter and family guy came in cheap cardboard cut out packages. I would have liked the real case, so it would fit in my collection better, but I guess this will do for now. -No wrist strap/Ear Buds: I wasn't very dissapointed that it didn't come with a wrist strap or earbuds because I have my own, but It is kind of sad because it came with the last PSP. I hope sony will start packing them in the future. Other than those 3 little Cons the new PSP really delivers! If you already have a psp, there is seriously no need to update. The features are not worth buying an entire new one. But if you have never bought one, like me, and you are planning on buying one, buy this one for sure!

Got my new ice silver PSP Slim (aka "PSP 2000", model PSP-2001) 3 days ago and I absolutely love it. The 30% lighter weight vis-a-vis the original PSP makes holding it so much easier and comfier. I used to need a case/comfort grip (PSP Comfort Grips Black) to use the old PSP -- BTW, the case/comfort grip/screen protect/stand 4-in-1 product in that link still works for the PSP slim! -- to use the PSP but with the new slim version I can hold it comfortably.
The other big improvement is in UMD loading time. It's noticeably much faster than before, making watching UMD movies much easier. BTW, this is achieved through caching on the MemoryStick, so if you don't have a MemoryStick in the PSP slim, you won't notice this speed-up. Sony also bumped the internal memory from 32MB to 64MB. Maybe this will help game-loading times, but early reports indicate the extra memory will mainly used for improved texture rendering. We shall see if any software improvement will come out. The screen also seems brighter than the original PSP's, and mine doesn't have any dead pixels. (My old PSP's LCD had 3 dead pixels, including a fairly bright green one.) Another new feature is the ability to output video (movies and games!) to an external TV, via an optional component AV or composite AV cable. I just ordered the $20 PSP 2000 Component AV Cable and really look forward to watching my collection of UMD and MemoryStick movies on my HDTV. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as the original PSP: same screen size and resolution, control layout, etc. Not a bad thing since it takes no time at all to get acquainted with this baby. The wi-fi button is now located on the top, and Sony took away the rarely-used IR window. One thing, though, is this Daxter pack does not come with headphones or the wired remote control, and you cannot use the wired control for the original PSP ("PSP-1000") in this new PSP ("PSP-2000"). In short, I think the lighter weight and faster UMD loading time make this a totally worthy upgrade for those of us really into our PSPs. For casual PSP owners, though, this is probably not all that interesting; the original PSP should be good enough for casual use. Those looking to get into PSP gaming should definitely get the new PSP Slim / PSP 2000.

Versatile and fun gaming system,

I bought one of these recently, and I am impressed with it. I haven't owned the original PSP, so I can only comment on the new PSP 2000 (PSP Slim).
These are some of what I think are the high points of the PSP 2000: - Small, lightweight design (could easily fit in a pocket) - The screen is crisp and bright - There is a good selection of games for it - It also plays videos and music - It also has wireless networking for multi-player games, and also includes a web browser (pretty cool for a game system) - It can output to a TV In addition to the UMDs that games & movies come on, the PSP can also load media from memory sticks (I have seen those available up to 4GB). Game data is also saved to memory stick. Videos, music, and it looks like even games can be loaded from memory sticks. Unfortunately, the memory stick is a proprietary Sony technology and are more expensive than other media such as SD cards, but it's still a nice feature. I like that there is a good variety of games available for the PSP. There are games that appeal to younger children as well as adults. A couple of my favorite games for the PSP so far are Mortal Kombat Unchained and Sega Genesis Collection (which includes 28 classic Genesis games for the PSP). The games seem to be less expensive in general than on other systems, too ($20-$40 vs. $40-$50+ for systems such as the PS3). I think it's interesting that there are movies available on UMD for the PSP. I can see that Sony wanted to create a versatile device, capable of playing movies as well as games, similar to the PS2 and PS3, but it seems to me that the UMD format isn't the best choice for movies. The PSP is the only device right now that can read UMDs, the movies have a lower visual quality, and the discs don't contain any extras. I already have a modest DVD collection, so I would only buy UMD movies if they were really cheap. However, it looks like UMD movies have already dropped in popularity quite a bit. I bought a USB cable for my PSP, and connecting it to a PC works fairly well. After plugging it into a USB port, the PSP must be switched into USB mode, and then it shows up as another drive on the computer, allowing you to copy files over to the memory stick. This makes it fairly easy to transfer things to & from the PSP. The PSP has a web browser on it, which makes it convenient to browse the web when a wireless internet connection is available. However, being the small gaming device that it is, some web pages don't render very well due to the small screen resolution, and it can be a little hard to navigate the web due to the lack of a true keyboard and mouse. There are 2 TV cables that I have seen available: One that has 3 RCA plugs (video and stereo audio), which many TVs support, and a component cable that has 5 RCA plugs, which is supported by newer TVs. I read a review recently saying that the PSP won't display games with the 3-plug version; I was a little disheartened, since I think my TV only has the 3-plug input. But this might not be an issue for many people. I bought the component (5-plug) video cable for the PSP and have used it with my 21" widescreen computer display. While it's nice to be able to plug the PSP into a TV, the PSP's display resolution is low enough that it will appear a little blocky on a big screen. One downside that I can think of is that this PSP only supports wi-fi for multiplayer gaming (Sony did away with the infra-red port). But in case there is no wi-fi router available, it would be nice if the PSP had some way of connecting 2 PSPs other than wi-fi, or perhaps a port that would let you plug in another controller for a second player. In all, I think the PSP's versatility and game selection make it worth the money.

First Time PSP Owner,

For starters, this is my first PSP, and as I've never even played the original, I've no experience to compare it to. This means any praise or complaints are for this new system alone.
Also note that, while I had an order in for Amazon, shipping took too long so I cancelled it about bought the unit at Target. The box is pretty with brilliant colors but once you get the system out you have to deal with the plastic tray, and yes, very cheap packaging. If you're expecting the actual UMD cases you won't get them. Instead you get the cardboard cut-out where the UMDs slide in and out. This is okay, until I realized I didn't have a game booklet for Daxter, which I personally haven't particularly enjoyed yet. Maybe in time. The system... The first thing one notices is how fragile the PSP feels. Whether or not you've had the old one, you WILL notice the plastic, which does feel rather cheap. Shiny, yes, but cheap. As many have already said, a single drop will probably throw your $200 bucks straight down the drain. Honestly, you could probably go "Hulk" on it and snap it in half without much struggle... The UMD tray wasn't that bad to me. You just pull it open, slide in the UMD, and snap it back. Again, too much force will probably break it, so be careful. The memory stick insert....this part pissed me off a bit. I had no idea what the little plastic parts were for; I guess they're to keep the door attached? It is VERY flimsy, and to me, useless. I see no reason they couldn't have just had a couple of small hinges on the door to let it open. Maybe that's how it is on the old PSP? The screen looks AWESOME! I also have a Nintendo DS, but the graphics simply do not compare. The colors are nice and vibrant. You'll definitely want to get a screen protector to reduce the smudges and fingerprints you're bound to get on the screen. There aren't a lot of options for levels of brightness though, I think only about 3. However, I do like they way you're able to choose screen mode when viewing videos. The size of the screen is absolutely great! The speakers were a lot weaker than I expected. Someone else posted that conventional headphones didn't work. I have a pair that came with my DS travel kit, and they worked fine, so no complaints there. In fact, the sound is better with the headphones. I like the feel of all the buttons, save the analog. It might just be because I have to get used to handling a PSP (am used to the general PS controller). It seems rather stiff, and is a little low. I think it may have been a good idea to place atop the directional buttons, but that's just me. The L and R buttons on top are clear, which I think looks really neat. The other buttons also look like they could light up...would be really cool if they did (or do they?) The power button I don't like. For one thing, when you switch from "Hold" position, you have to slide it with just the right amount of pressure or else you'll slide the button into sleep mode. This makes me not want to use "Hold" very much. I've also accidentally moved the power button during game play (I thought my PSP had burned out or something!), so it's clear you have to be careful. The USB cable connects on top of the PSP, and it's really convenient. I haven't played the PSP long enough to really see about the battery life, but I can say that I had it fully charged, put it in sleep mode for two days (was unintentional...I thought it was off), and turned it back on to find it was down to just one bar. To me, that's not overly impressive. But that's compared to the DS, so I guess it doesn't count. The wifi connections is....interesting. I've only really logged on to the online manual and the PSP web site. I doubt I'll be using this feature much though. The "keyboard", if you can even call it that, takes FOREVER to input anything. In the case of downloading demos, for example, I find it easier to download on the computer via the USB cable. I hear that messenger and chat either is or will be available, but I don't think it's worth the trouble of "typing". I mainly bought the PSP to play a few games and to watch videos for when I travel so I wouldn't have to lug my widescreen laptop all over the place. I did wait for the this new release once I learned about it just for the TV plug-in option. Hopefully that'll be fun once the cables come out. This new PSP Slim isn't by any means perfect; some will love it and some won't. But overall I'm pleased with my purchase and look forward to getting new games.

This review is from: PlayStation Portable Limited Edition Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver (Video Game)
I bought this package having no previous experience with PSP, having only owned Nintendo portable systems leading all the way back to the original "grey brick" Game Boy. Eventually, the allure of certain games such as Mega Man Powered Up forced my hand, just as many excellent games for the PlayStation 2 led me to buy that system long after I already had a GameCube.
This pack includes a game (Daxter), a 1 GB Memory Stick Duo, and 5 episodes of Family Guy (Family Guy - The Freakin Sweet Collection (UMD Mini for PSP)) for only $30 more than a pack including only the system itself. It's an excellent deal. I haven't played too much of Daxter, but I played Jak and Daxter/Jak II/Jak 3 on PS2, and if the quality is just as high I expect it to be a great game as well. Keep in mind that the game, the UMD video, the memory stick, instructions, a battery and an AC adapter are the ONLY things in the box. Although this PSP model is capable of video out, you have to buy the cable separately: PSP 2000 Component AV Cable. Note also that, when the cable is used, it blows up UMD video to full screen but shows games at their native resolution, 480x272. This means they will be letterboxed on the top and bottom as well as the sides on nearly any screen. This system also has a USB cable output which is not proprietary, as it can be connected to a PC with any cable that has a male mini USB on one side and male standard USB on the other. The system is crippled when connected to a computer, however; you have to select a special option from the main menu to transfer files, after which the screen merely displays "USB mode" and cannot be used to do anything other than access the Memory Stick from a PC, similar to a USB flash drive. From what I've seen so far, the PSP is an excellent system for things other than games. If you don't have an iPod capable of displaying video, it handles video podcasts and other video in a variety of formats quite well. It also plays music, and you can fit a decent amount of it with the included memory stick. The internet browser is also capable, though it displays fast-paced video or flash, such as Homestar Runner, very slow and choppy. Gaming is the main focus of the PSP, and games look great. If you've played PlayStation 2, the PSP looks just as good. 3-D is rendered well, though from what I've experienced, slowdown is common when there are a lot of things on the screen at once. Also, the analog stick is terrible. It's not in a good place, and for someone with big hands like me, it causes thumb cramps. Supposedly you can buy a bigger stick to put on top of this one, and I may end up doing so. The other controls are top-notch, however. Loading is typically fast - perhaps faster on the Slim PSP, but I have no basis for comparison - though the CD spin-up noise is fairly loud. All that said, I come to my biggest gripe. I have bought three of these in a row, and ALL THREE OF THEM have had a dead pixel. Two displayed white on a dark screen, and one won't display red at all (it's black on a red screen, green on a white screen, but indistinguishable otherwise). I will be returning this one today to roll the dice for a fourth time. Sony claims that dead pixels are a common problem with all LCD screens, and you should play with the PSP for a week to make sure it really bothers you before you return it. This is BS! Sure, I'm getting irritated with all these returns, but they can't talk me into buying a damaged system. For those trying to decide between this and a Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Black, I should note that Nintendo systems seem to be built to much higher standards. They rarely fail (I have accidentally dropped a Gamecube from 6 feet up onto a tile floor, and it wasn't even dented) and their customer service is top-notch. The same thing cannot be said for Sony systems - not only because of the dead pixels but in that numerous PlayStation 2 systems (including mine; I was forced to buy a new one despite having taken excellent care of it) have failed years before they should. The unique stylus input, dual-screen output, and vastly superior game library make the DS, in my opinion, a better system. That said, the DS cannot drive pixels quite as well as the PSP - 3D games look better on the PSP in general - and although Nintendo has produced several DS titles that are not technically games, such as Big Brain Academy, there's not much to the DS without a game inserted and the firmware offers only tiny bits of customization compared to the PSP's customizable colors, wallpapers, and themes. The DS can't play music, the Game Boy Advance Video titles can't compare to the quality of true UMD/DVD video, and although there is an internet browser available separately, it is vastly inferior to the one included in the PSP's firmware. If you don't want to mess with the unique playing style of the DS, and just want a PlayStation 2/music player/video player/internet browser for your back pocket, the PSP is the way to go.

I owned the first PSP and i just purchased the new Ice Silver PSP. I'm not gonna lie - at first it does seem very light. Which is a good thing - I thought the old one was a little too heavy - the color which is not as great as the black is better in the sense that it shows no fingerprints.
In terms of people complaining about the battery cover or memory card cover or UMD cover- i have no problems with them whatsoever - the only problem i find is when you insert a UMD it is not really secure - it is just placed in the "tray" and when you close it you feel as though the UMD is probably not secure. But that's just a lil flaw. Nothing major. I think people think that it feels cheap because of the weight. It is lighter - slimmer and slightly smaller to me. Which is good - it doesnt wear on your hands quickly as i found with the first PSP. Battery life to me has improved but not really the loading times. However the increase from 32 to 64MB internal memory will come in handy in future games i'm sure that will take advanage of the larger memory. Now the Package Deal - it's a nice deal - 1 PSP Ice Silver PSP and a 1 Gig memory stick - however i thought it was pretty cheap when it came to the Family Guy or Daxter cardboard sleeves - they should have at least placed them in small plastic UMD cases. Also i thought it was sort of a risk to have the actual product displayed on the front - When you see it for the first time you think that it is a picture of the PSP on the front - Wrong! Actually its the PSP itself - no protection for the screen except for clear plastic. It also comes with the AC power cord and adaptor - i think that maybe Sony should have included the earphones with it - i dunno - just thought it would be a nice addition or at least the soft pouch to help you carry it around. As with all PSP owners we know the first item to buy is a screen protector and filter. Trust Me - YOU NEED IT! - You would think by now that Sony would make the screen a little more resitant to scratches - but unfortunately they havent fixed that up as yet. As for dead pixels on my PSP - i'm glad that it didn't come with as single dead pixel. Overall though i think its a great buy, a great little system - i have a Nintendo DS as well - and love my games on the DS but for some reason i lean a little more to the PSP because i think of the superior graphics - the capability or music, pictures, movies and videos all in a nice, clean, slim multimedia player in your hands - i like to think of it as my iPod with a bigger screen. As for space and memory - thats easy to fix - just buy a couple to a few memory sticks - depending on what all you have on them or what types of multimedia you prefer to deal with. NOTE: as for the USB cable - if you happen to have a Motorola USB phone cable - it will work as well - i use that from my V3i and never did buy it seperately. Hope this review helped you to make a decision - Overall 5 out of 5 for me. If you have a PSP and want to get a newer one - get it.

I don't understand how the Gameboy sells so much more than the PSP. This is really an incredible portable entertainment system. Movies, pictures, music, internet and games. Pretty soon you will be able to use it as a phone as well. I had the older style, but when the new version came out I bought it as well to compare. You lose nothing with the new version and only gain with the new features and slimmer/lighter casing. I have had it for 3 months now, and even though your first thought might be that it is flimsy, it is really a sturdy system. I use it every day and I have not had a problem at all. I do take the precautions of having the protective film cover over the screen(it does scratch easily) as well as having a good case to put it in when I am not using it. The battery life is long and the pack in game(Daxter) and the movie(Family Guy) are top notch. The only drawbacks to the system is the unevenness of the games. Many are just ports from the ps2. With God of War and Metal Ops coming, hopefully things are on the upswing. The only other qualm I have is with the lack of warning when the battery is about to die. Many times I will be right in the middle of a game and I get a 1 second warning before the battery dies. Even a 10 second warning would give me time to save before it cuts out. That aside, this is a terrific system.

I just bought this yesterday, and boy am I glad I did so!
When they say "Value Pack" they mean Value Pack! The box comes packed with the new slimmer designed PSP 2000 (With A/V out!), a 1GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection, and a copy of the Greatest Hits game "Daxter!" (As well as the AC Adaptor & Power Cord) I've always loved Family Guy, it's one of my favorite animated TV shows! Daxter is an incredibly fun game with very impressive graphics! And since you need a nice big Memory Stick to save your progress in game, this all adds up to be a very complete package. Originally when I heard they were releasing a new PSP, I figured I'd wait 'til the price of the old PSP went down and just buy that for cheap. But as I stood there at work in Kmart's Electronics Department, staring down at the 4 PSP Value Packs we just got, and adding up the prices of the individual items in this package and factoring in that it's brand new, the holidays are coming soon, and that this package probably won't be availible for very long, I knew I had to act immediately! Let me break it down for you... Sony PSP// (Piano Black Slim Design) 169.99 New Daxter PSP game// 19.99 New Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection// (UMD) 17.99 New Sony 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo// 19.45 New Altogether, that would come to a grand total of 227.42 Then take into account that this package is brand new! The Holidays are coming soon, and people are going to want to buy this as a gift for someone! And that this package is only going to be availible for a limited time before they start selling the new PSP individually, and you'll be spending 227.42 if you want all the stuff in this package together! The only reason why I gave this package 4 stars overall instead of the full 5 is because of a few improvments/modifications that I feel should've been made to the new PSP. #1. I wish they would've given the new PSP a TFT/VGA LCD screen instead of Plasma LCD, which is subject to "Burn ins" & "Ghosting" (The phenomonon that occurs when you leave a still image on a screen for too long and it becomes burned into the screen) #2. I wish they would've added an SD Memory Card slot on the new PSP, SD Memory Cards are far more Universal than Memory Stick Pro Duo, as well as cheaper in price, and it would give you the option to view all your pictures on your PSP! (Not everyone owns a one of your Digital Cameras, Sony...) #3. I know alot about LCDs and own alot of devices with LCD screens. (2 TV, 3 GBAs, 2 DS Lites, an MP3 Player, Cell Phone, Laptop computer, etc.) And I have to say that their little "Disclaimer" printed in their Product Manuel was false. (I'd even go so far as to say that it's a lie...) Not all LCD devices have dead pixels right when you first turn them on, or even develope them shortly after you buy them. Dead pixels are caused by defects in design that cause the electrons to flow irregularly through the screen, thus causing small sections of it to burn out or malfuction! Sony should've just just made their disclaimer say that a small ammount of their PSPs may be defective and get dead pixels, not make it out like it's a common thing for all LCD devices. #4 Although the PSP can be used as an MP3 Player, it's lack of internal hard drive and inability to play wma/wmv (Windows Media) files makes it pale in comparison to other MP3 Players. After considering the size of the PSP compared to other MP3 Players, needing to buy additional software because it won't work with Windows Media Player, and being bound to the limited saving space of the memory stick makes the PSP undesirable as a full time use MP3 Player. You're better off buying a cheap MP3 Player or an ipod, Zune, or Creative Zen if you're looking for a good MP3/MP4 Player. And #5. I wish they had've made the UMD door out of thicker plastic, it's really flimsy, and I'm scared to death that it's gonna break off one of these days when I open it. (I recommend buying an extended warrenty plan/replacement plan such as Kmart's "Smart Plan" when you buy this, I'm gonna have one added next time I go to work.) And on another note, if you like RPGs like me, you'll find the PSP's library of games to be downright limited (Unless you count Sports games or First-person Shooters) when compared to DS... Future heavy hitters such as God of War: Chains of Olympus, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, and a Persona remake help to make the new PSP 2000 very desirable, but for the time being there just isn't much here... My small complaints aside, The PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack is well worth buying! Great for gifts, vacations, or even just personal entertainment! If your thinking of buying one, don't hesitate! Buy it now while it's still available! |
