I recently agonized over whether to buy the Playstation or an N64. Here's what made the decision for me: 1. Although in theory the N64 has better graphics, in practice there isn't much difference. 2. CD-quality sound on the PSX as opposed to the tinny "cartridge music" of the N64. 3. Speaking of cartridges, although they load faster, they hold less code (96MB vs 640MB for CDs), are more expensive, and won't play in any other system. 4. A LOT more games for the Playstation. 5. Current games will play in the Playstation 2. Now, I'm obviously not a cutting-edge gamer, and when the PSX2 comes out, I'll wait a couple years. But when I do, I'm glad the games I buy today will still play tomorrow. A final bonus is the cool graphics machine you can run with audio CDs. Make your own cheesy 80's video or have something to stare at while spacing out - it's a nifty feature!

I ordered my PSX about a week ago from amazon.com and recieved it 3 days ago. I must say that this system is well worth the money despite its power. Many of my friends told me that I should have gotten a DC or PS2, but I didn't because Playstation has quality and value. I bought FF7 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 plus a memory card all for $50! A typical Dreamcast game costs $50 alone! If you buy two DC games and a memory card, you would be spending upwards of $100! There's so many good games on PSX to get cheap right now that there's really no need to buy a DC. Awesome PSX games include: Resident Evil 2, FF7, Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, FF Tactics, Star Ocean 2, Silent Hill, Gran Tourismo, Ridge Racer 4, so on. And so what if these games are only 32 bits? They still have good 3D graphics and they're so fun to play. If you only like games for their graphics, go ahead and get a DC. But if you're a true gamer that knows quality and value when you see it, you would be smart enough to pick up a PSX.

Old but still chuggin, November 10, 2000
This review is from: PlayStation System With Dual Shock (Electronics)
I can't beleive that this system has so many games! It's just crazy! Spyro, NCAA 2001 and Coolboarders 3 & 4 are da bomb. Sure, N64 has some ok games, but they are mostly games that are racing or fighting games. The game selection is so vast for PSX. If you are thinking about buying N64 or PSX (DC and PSX2 kill them both, so i'll just do PSX and N64) check these out: 1:Games PSX-Great Sports N64-Great racing 2:Sound FX PSX-Sweet because on CD N64-Not good because in cartridge 3:Game play and loading time: PSX-Slow loading but good gameplay N64- really fast loading and good gameplay. 4:Controllers: PSX-The best out there because of build in viberation and D-Pad,Anologe N64-Must buy seperet rumble pak and joystick, D-Pad Overall, I think that the Playstation has better and bigger selection of games, better controllers and better gameplay than the N64, but the N64 has much faster loading time and better racing games. After much thinking, I deicided to go with the Sony Playstation. I hope my info helped you.
