4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey for what it is (depends on what you need it for) February 15, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The item itself is pretty basic - a USB cable for connecting your PS Vita to a PC, Mac, PS3 or the Vita power adapter.

* THIS ITEM COMES WITH THE PS VITA - THIS IS ONLY NEEDED AS A SPARE OR REPLACEMENT

Since everything is done through the vita's USB connector (charging, syncing), I wanted to have a spare so I can keep one at home and one on the go.

Common uses for this cable would be:

* If you lose your original (this is needed to charge and sync the Vita - charging being the most important part)
* If you want to have 1 at home (AC Adapter) and one on the go (Charging while away from home, and you don't want to unplug/carry the AC adapter with you)
* If you want to have 1 connected to the AC Adapter and one to a PC/PS3 for syncing (so you're not constantly swapping cables).

If you don't need any of the above, this is a pretty unnecessary item for you.

The item is pretty basic - you literally only get the USB Cable (1 meter / 3.28 feet long). It would have been nicer to have a longer option available. There are also no "caps" for either end to keep dust out (which I thought would be nice and possibly help justify the price since this is something that (if used "on the go") will be thrown into a bag a lot of the time.

There is also no cord-wrap included to keep the cord neat (it does include a rubberband, but that seems more for packaging and to be thrown away). Again, for the price it would be nice to have this included.

The price is a bit expensive for what it is (keep in mind, if you buy the AC Adapter separately you do not get a USB cable with it, so if you want a spare AC Adapter + USB cable, you need to buy both separately).

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Beats Original Cables. September 23, 2012
Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought the cheaper version cable for about $6 and it lasted about 3 days when it literally fell apart in my hand. Also, the cheap version took longer to recharge both my Vita and the portable charger.

The one I'm reviewing is the original Sony brand, in the Sony box. I've heard of people getting knock offs, so I suggest you buy it from "Amazon" and not fullfilled or third party. Directly sold and shipped by Amazon.

Nothing much to say, the cable is perfect for my needs. I needed one to carry around for when using the portable Sony charger and it works. It measures 3.30" and it exactly as the one included with the PS Vita. Good luck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great replacement cable July 2, 2012

great replacement cord for my vita. sadly i bought the early edition bundle and within a few months my cord died. found this for cheap and figured why not try it. came in fast, works great. the only issue is it fits a little tighter than the original sony cable did, which can be an issue if you arent paying attention when you go to unhook it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware (UnitedIntegral) September 30, 2012
By Kevin

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
As another reviewer mentioned, he ordered this from UnitedIntegral as well. It was a great price and sounded like an awesome deal for a legit Sony cable. They do NOT sell "Sony" branded Vita cables. If I wanted a knock-off cable, I would've went on eBay or went to another "Vita USB cable" page on Amazon that have their own pages for 3rd party cables.
I'm sure there's no difference between Sony's and a random 3rd party manufacturer's quality, but it comes down to warranty and I don't want to take the chance of a random cable having a negative effect on my Vita and Sony not warranting it due to not "an official Sony product."
Nowhere on UnitedIntegral's seller info when you click on "More Buying Choices" that it's a 3rd party cable. They should NOT be selling their 3rd party cable under the Sony branded section. Get your own product page on Amazon or put on your product description that it's NOT a Sony cable.
I didn't bother testing it to see if it works, I just gave it to a friend and he hasn't mentioned any problems with it.
The low star rating is towards UnitedIntegral and their lack of honesty / advertisement of detailed product information.

Edit: It seems UnitedIntegral isn't even an option anymore to buy this cable from (gee, I wonder why...), but please take note for future reference.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a Sony Product July 28, 2014

Despite the pictures and claims to the contrary, this is not a Sony cable. It does not come in a Sony box as pictured, instead, it comes in a plastic bag with a rubber tie around it. Whether it works or not, this is deceptive marketing at best.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware if buying from third party vendor October 20, 2012

This is advertised as the Sony Brand cable. What I received from Deal Fever is a third party brand. While the cable works, it is too tight and I am afraid it will break the port on the Vita.

Works as advertised, as a data cable/charging cable for the Vita. I should note that while you can charge it from a computer's USB port, I've found the vita has to be turned off while charging. Also the charging process itself takes at least several hours since a USB port doesn't put out much power, so don't expect a quick charge without the AC-adapter portion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price but... June 13, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
For $5 this is a great deal and it works fine. But it's not an actual Sony-manufactured cable...I compared it to two actual Sony cables I already have and this one lacks the PS logo and was shipped in a mailing envelope sans any packaging. I already have one Sony cable used for regular charging, one I keep in my SUV for charging and this one I bought for PS3 linking. The Sony cable retails for $15.
