Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Get maximum sports action with this special PlayStation2 game pack, which includes the new PlayStation2 console (with controller), a Sony 8 MB memory card, a PS2 vertical stand, and three games (Madden NFL 2001, SSX: Snowboard Supercross, and Tekken Tag Tournament).

At the heart of the PlayStation2 is the 128-bit Emotion Engine processor, which brings lightning-fast gameplay and unprecedented graphics power to your TV screen. We've packed in three AAA titles to get things started.

EA Sports's Madden NFL 2001 fully utilizes the PlayStation2's advanced hardware with ultrarealistic rushing, passing, blocking, and tackling. You can play the built-in AFC and NFC lineups, or even create your own players. The graphics power of the PlayStation2 brings a new level of detail to the game. As play progresses, you'll see the field start to collect scars from some of the rougher tackles, and the players will show some wear of their own, too.

If you can pull yourself away from the football game, there's also SSX: Snowboard Supercross. Game critics are raving about this fast-action winter title, which includes unconventional racing environments and a wide variety of boarders.

With more than 30 characters to fight against or beside, Tekken Tag Tournament allows you to pull off the ultimate human combo: tag-team fighting. By choosing two fighters with broadly divergent skills, you can greatly increase your threat to other fighters.

To help you make headway in these games, this bundle also includes a Sony 8 MB memory card. Also, we've included the official PS2 vertical stand, which turns your machine into a tower of sleek gaming power.

About these bundles:

Amazon.com and Toysrus.com are pleased to offer these special PlayStation2 bundles. When you select a bundle for purchase, Amazon.com will ship your selection in a single box. 5.0 out of 5 stars Solid System, Good Games, June 14, 2001

Everyone seems to be comparing the Dreamcast with the PS2 and making some legitimate gripes. However, I ask this of people... if the PS2 came out before the Dreamcast, would you be making the same gripes? If the PS2 came out over a year ago, I'm sure they would have the full capabilities that Sega presents and then some. Also, many complain about no internet connection, etc... The PS2 is capable. What Sony has not done is sell the components to make it a realization. It's all a marketing ploy so they can build up hype and sales. Give the PS2 a year, and it will surpass the Dreamcast in gameplay, selection, and capability.

I personally found the PS2 attractive because of its backward compatibility and the ability to play DVD's. I will say that the games are quite good for being such a young system. Also, the DVD playing is sufficient. Although the controls are awkward because you have to use the analog controllers, it still suffices as a DVD player. There is a third party remote, but I don't trust third party equipment. I'll wait for something better. As some have said, the vent is quite loud at times. The hum will be annoying at first esp. if you place it on a hard surface, but it's something you'll get used to.

Should you get the PS2? Yes. Should you get it now? No. The price will definitely go down with time, and it'll be more affordable then. Also, there will be more games later this year. Also, for those who don't have a DVD player, this system will keep you entertained two-fold. If you're going to compare it to the Dreamcast, ask yourself where the PS2 will be in equal time. You can't compare a 5-year-old to a new born and automatically say that the 5-year-old will be smarter in the long run just because it can read and the newborn can't.

5 stars for the system. 4-5 stars for the games. These are great games to start off with for the PS2, but they are a bit old. Madden 2002 will be out before you know it, and SSX is coming out with a new remix version. If I were you, I'd hold off on this bundle and go for the other ones.

I own Playstation2. This is the best console out. its small and slick. It does an awesome job at DVD movie playing. I have DOA2 (Dead or Alive 2) this game has awesome graphics. I have played alot of other games from Blockbuster and it played awesome on my PS2. You can select lots of Languages it has time and other options u can change. I have played alot of PS1 games on my PS2 and they all work with a slight increase in graphic quality and the loading time is much much faster. One game i played is Twisted Metal III. it plays ok on my ps2 i haven't had any freezes and it has a digital out in the back for you speakers and other things. It also has a Giant fan on the back of it which provides lots of cooling and it hsa never heated up on me. This system is the best u can get so far. Unless you have a 1.5Gigahert system wit a 64mb video card u can't beat the graphics on this thing. Its worth every penny you Pay. Have fun with it if u get it and i think you SHOULD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooler than all of the other game systems out!!!!!, July 11, 2001

I got my PS2 six months ago and it's really cool! It plays the DVD's really good and it plays the original playstation games, the Playstation 2 games, PS2 and playstation memomory cards, and CD's. But whenever you play R rated DVD's and up you have to enter a number password that you can decide on for yourself, the kid's can't figure it out unless if you tell them; that way you can make sure they don't watch those kind of movies. I got the PS2 extreme pack because it would be cheaper than buying a DVD player, and CD player. If you are thinking of buying it for you or your kids it's a great buy!!! I think this is the BEST game sytem ever made!!!
