Honest, Practical, Worth the read,
This review is from: The Playbook for Small Businesses (Paperback)
A business book for the start-up for sure - but some great advice even for established business that wants to go to the next level. Practical suggestions that can be implemented the day you read them. Suggestions that keep you thinking about your approach to your business. A good read.

Half Business, Half Dogma,
This review is from: The Playbook for Small Businesses (Kindle Edition)
If you believe that you do not need to follow Jesus in order to succeed in business then this book is NOT for you.

decent read but misleading description,

This review is from: The Playbook for Small Businesses (Kindle Edition)
I'll keep this review short and sweet... although this book does contain some decent suggestions about business, it also contains a lot of religious talk that I was not a fan of. The author spends a substantial amount of time praising god, christian values, and even goes as far to imply that to succeed in business you need faith in god. Sorry but I find that sort of idealogy to be borderline insane. If I had known this book spent so much time praising religion I wouldn't have bought it... That sort of thing should be clearly stated within the description. Also, the kindle edtion formatting is very poor. No fault of the author but still annoying nonetheless.

Comes from Liberal/ Religious Perspective,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Playbook for Small Businesses (Kindle Edition)
First. the formatting for the Kindle was somewhat bad but I don't blame author. I have not yet read the entire book but I would not buy it again after seeing the first few chapters. The author comes from a religious and liberal mindset. Not that that is bad and while I can agree with him that customers and employees should be a priority, he seems to have an overabundance of faith that God will provide should business need money and he has an unfailing willingness to believe in the good in humans and places a great amount of trust in people. While it may be nice, he seems to wants to operate his business solely as a social project and almost as a nonprofit. I am not saying that is bad, just stating my observations. With so many reviews, I thought it would be an excellant book.I will eventually get around to reading the rest but it would have been nice to have mention that he comes from a liberal point of view on business and his coming from a religious perspective and not so much as a business perspective. |
