fun party.....wish I'd been there, December 29, 2006

Playboy has put on a fun show for their 50th anniversary, with a festive atmosphere and lots of variety - sexy babes (love those painted costumes!), rock music, comedians, bits about Playboy's 50 years, interviews, and as usual at any Playboy party, lots of celebrity-spotting. Drew Carey and sexy Jenny McCarthy are officially the hosts, although as you might expect Hugh Hefner turns up enough to be a co-host as well. And while there's a lot of Playboy history recounted in this, it's quite different from that given on the
Playboy - Inside the Playboy Mansion DVD if you already have that one. Different parts of the history are emphasized on the two shows. However, for repeated viewings I'd rather have had a little less of the history (19 out of 40 tracks) and more of the partying. Why invite the great group Chicago to the party and only have them do two songs?! However, everything does move along at a nice pace and holds my interest all the way through. I should point out, though, that other than a few flashes on some naked babes in the grotto and an occasional photo from Playboy magazine, this show is surprisingly tame, maybe because in a slightly censored form it was originally shown on the Arts and Entertainment Channel. Of course, there are lots of sexy ladies around, only more clothed than on most Playboy videos! So maybe after watching the 50th anniversary show, you should put on another more typical Playboy video to create a better balance. Hmmm....let's see....I haven't seen that Jenny McCarthy profile in a couple of weeks......

This dvd is basically the Playboy I grew up with. The world of the 7 girlfriends before there was a Girls Next Door, and Hef's main attraction of the 90s Pamela Anderson being featured in this video. Highlights of parties at the mansion and Hef interviewed with performances featured at the mansion.
