Playboy - 2001 Playmate of the Year Brande Roderick, Video Centerfold

Once again the 2 earth elements, Bleach and Silicone have combined to win Playmate of the Year. Can someone please tell me how Brande Roderick won over Brooke Berry or Shannon Stewart? This DVD is made in the standard Playmate of the Year video Fashion, with canned music recycled from the last 5 videos and the typical buzz words, "It's such an Honour", " I can't believe the pictures are of Me", " I was a Tomboy growing up", ...please, it's time to change the script alitle. You get the feeling that Brande is reading cue cards without her contact lens on and if she said anything original it would be by accident. The video has nothing original to it. There are some bright moments on the disc, around 16 min. in Brande does a nice waterfall scene in a black bikini, this is the only scene where you get to see more than her breasts. 26 min. in Brande is watching slides of herself while lounging in an armchair, nice, except the lighting is dark. You get the feeling that someone is yelling "Quick, Brande is Exposing Herself, Kill the Lights!". Buffy Tyler's Bonus feature isn't much better, although the Parody of Ali Larter's Whip Cream Bikini scene from Varsity Blues definitely works for me. As for Bonus Features you get a Behind the scenes video (the exact same as the one you could download from Playboy.com), Brande's orginal Video Profile, yawn.., a slide show, double yawn.., and a listing of all the Playboy videos available to purchase (Like you'd pay money for that). About a quarter of the video is worth watching the rest is filler. If fake blondes is your passion you'll love this disc, if not wait for the next playmate review or wet and wild series.

First things first. I gave this DVD a 4 star-rating, but I think it deserved a 4.5/5 for several reasons. The Good:

- Packed with lots of features. Includes 6 all new vignettes of Brande, along with a pictorial. Bonus footage includes her original playmate profile, previews of other Playboy videos, a behind-the-scenes look at the PMOY, a slide show of the PMOY, and a bonus playmate profile from a PMOM from 2000.

- DVD quality is excellent - A lot of steamy new material - Lighting isn't as bad as in previous Playboy videos

Now the Bad:

- Too many guys. Why does PB think having guys every other shot of a vignette is a turn on? - Shots are a bit too quick - Lighting could be better - Bad, corny music

Other than that, there really isn't much to be disappointed with about this DVD. If you think Brande Roderick is hot, don't hesitate to buy this DVD!

Title says all... I was hoping for great things from these guys this year, but I guess my expectations weren't even met. Nude footage is ruined by extra long "filler" sequences. I looked all over the city to find this and I was upset at the lack of quality from playboy. Normally I dont care for the music, but the audio in this one was horrible as it ripped off a few song pitches I know (Can we say Beautiful Day?). Rent it first before you buy it. The last few reviews would agree with me on that... and the first few have not seen the stuff from years ago (ie. Jenny Mccarthy, Karen McDougall to name a few)

Finally, a decent release from the fellows at Playboy. The camera work was better planned and executed than the past few Playboy videos I have purchased. Brande's beautiful body was given the attention it deserves, with long, lingering shots up and down. Best of all to me, were the alternating shots of a part of her body, then her face so you can see her expression. Reading in Playboy that she still gets nervous in front of the camera, that makes this video even sexier.

Why the 4 stars? Well, it's that stupid music that Playboy videos all seem to have. Did I hear a version of U2's "Beautiful Day"? Come on Playboy. Doesn't Fred Durst frequent the Mansion quite often? Have him lay down some tracks for future videos.

The bonus footage of Buffy Tyler is nice as well. She is extremely cute, and that pierced belly button!! I had thought she was going to win PMOY, so having her and Brande on the same disc is a bonus. Brande Roderick seems like more of a girl-next-door than the past few PMOY's, and I feel that this sweetness really shines through in her scenes. For me, this video was well worth the money. Instead of disappointment, I felt satisfaction for once. I hope that Playboy starts a new trend of producing well-made videos that really show the models bodies, and cuts out the artsy symbolism and bad camera work. If I want art, I will go rent Citizen Kane.

Brande Roderickis drop dead gorgeous but there are virtually no good segments is this DVD. With the exception of the introduction it was pretty badly done.

Not a terrible video and Brande is nice to look at but Shannon Stewart was hands down the hottest playmate of the year. Just catch some of her videos and see for yourself. She is gorgeous in every way and ranks as one of the best playmates ever. So why did Brande win? Cause she is so close to Hef and thats why. Do yourself a favor and find a video that has Shannon Stewart on it. One video of her is worth more than all the videos on this DVD.

Please. How much more mush-core porn does the world need? And is anything more trite than yet another fake-up-front, smile-for-the-camera Playboy Playmate of the Year? How on earth is this stuff even considered erotic anymore?

My suggestion: drop Rocco Siffredi into the middle of the taping and watch what happens. Just tell her it was "in the contract." Let the big dogs eat!

The video is good, but considering Brande's pre-Playboy explicit work for other photographers in which she appears with other women in compromising poses, someone more classy deserved PMOY.

When I watched Inside Club Wild Side, I was stunned by Brande's beauty. I just can't understand why she got some silicon in her. Kerrisa Fare should've won.

If you like female nudity, this is the DVD for you. There's lots of nudity here, and hardly any male nudity, which is a plus.
