Book Description

February 9, 2010
When Michael Medici spotted the beautiful cocktail waitress, he made his move. One extraordinary night later, he knew he wanted more from Bella St. Clair. Too bad he'd just acquired her family's business--and she despised him.

The word "no" wasn't in the Medici vocabulary so he made Bella an offer even the proudest woman couldn't refuse. Become his mistress, and she'd regain the company. Though she agreed to his proposition, she refused to surrender to his no-emotions-involved rule. Would this Medici millionaire succumb to his heart's hidden desire?

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointed, February 26, 2010
This review is from: The Playboy's Proposition (Silhouette Desire, No. 1995 / The Medici Men) (Mass Market Paperback)
I gave this book two stars only because the characterization is fairly decent and the writing is good and clean. That being said, I couldn't make it past the third chapter before I wanted to hurl it against the wall. I HATE these characters. The hero is a jerk (and that's being nice). When he offered her that deal, I wanted her to tell him where he could shove it. But when she took it, I lost all respect for her. I can't get into a book, nor wilL I reccomend it to anyone I know, if I can't even respect the characters. I have no desire to finish this book.

Bella St. Clair has a one-night stand with wealthy Michael Medici. Bella decides to swallow her pride and ask Michael for help after his company buys her Aunt business (who is recovering from cancer). Michael agrees to help her aunt if Bella will become his mistress. This was a fun 184 page novel with strong characters , steamy moments and over all a great escape read. I like this author style of reading and it was a nice escape - I am glad I read it.

If you enjoy this genre I would also suggest; Feet First, Animal Attraction (Berkley Sensation) and Good Time Girl (Harlequin Blaze).

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable book in Medici men series..., March 4, 2011

This review is from: The Playboy's Proposition (Silhouette Desire, No. 1995 / The Medici Men) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of four books in the Medici Men series. Some people might be put off by how the hero and heroine get together in the story, but keeping in mind that this is fictional romance, the ending made me like this book.

Michael became a very wealthy man on his own, with multimillion dollar investments and businesses all over Atlanta. He recently reconnected with his brothers who were all separated after a tragic accident where his parents and younger brother died. Michael has been affected the most by this tragedy because the day of the accident, he traded places with his brother. His brother's body was never found. This is the secondary story that is present throughout the series.

Michael has lived his life full of guilt, regret and anxiety. His sole mission was to find out what happened to his brother. He lived a cold and lonely life. One day he saw Bella working as a waitress in one of his restaurants and was immediately attracted to her. He knew she could make him forget about his problems and satisfy his need. He courts her without telling her who he is until one day she finally accepts a ride from him. He takes the opportunity to seduce her and they end up having a passionate one night stand. The next day, he wants to see her but Bella turns him down. Bella was not ready for another relationship as she was nursing a broken heart and was still pining over her ex. As "fate" would have it, Michael owned a Spa that used to belong to Bella's aunt. Michael was surprised to see her again and made her a proposition: become his mistress for a year in exchange for helping her aunt get her Spa back. They enter into this agreement and soon find themselves getting to know each other. Michael slowly creeps into Bella's heart but he is not capable of loving her back. She leaves him because after her broken engagement, she deserved to love and be loved. Will Michael let her leave? Will he change his mind? Can he love her the way she wants?

Story was heartwarming and so romantic. You get to catch up what their brothers are up to. I agree, she did sell herself for money, but I overlooked this because this is fiction after all and the hopeless romantic in me LOVED the ending! Nice and easy read!
