Tena Fanning's BOOGER BOOGIE tells of a solution to sniffling and snuffling: grabbing a tissue. All three teach kids using a fun and whimsical dance-oriented charged blend of story line and music, making them top picks for day care and parent use.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is disgusting, July 1, 2007
This review is from: The Playdate Kids: Booger Boogie (Playdate Kids Musical) (Hardcover)
Reviewed by Stephanie, Parish (age 3) and Isaac (age 1) Rollins for Reader Views (4/07)

A book about boogers...What kid is not going to like that? The song on the accompanying CD is so fun. Parish and Isaac immediately started dancing to it. It is very upbeat.

"Booger Boogie" shows boogers coming out of kids' and teachers' noses. Other kids rush to the troubled person to give them a tissue to "blow it out." The song instructs children not to eat boogers, not to put boogers on the couch, and to not wipe boogers on sleeves.

Only the Playdate Kids series would tackle an issue like snotty noses, and only Playdate Kids could do so with class. Parish would say "oooohhhh!" and point to the boogers on each page. Then we would yell, "Get a tissue, dude!" She also liked it when the kids would "blow it out." They did so in a dance move that rivaled a spread eagle.

There are two pages that are what I consider to be "Grease" parodies. It shows the Playdate Kids dancing down the hallway of their school. There is even a greaser in a leather jacket in the background.

There is an illustration of the bottom of a school desk that is covered with different colored boogers. It is disgusting, but in a funny way. The last page shows what boogers are and where they come from. There is kid-friendly drawing of the sinus cavities.

The best thing about Playdate Kids is that all the kids are different. All the parents and teachers are different. The illustrations do not show a homogeneous group of kids. There are different hair colors, skin colors, and hair types. Some of the kids are cute. Some are not blessed with great looks.

Now if Playdate Kids could tackle the problem of hand-washing. As always, the Playdate Kids series has another great book in "Booger Boogie," it is a must read!
