5.0 out of 5 stars swift must read!, August 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Players At the Game of People (Mass Market Paperback)
Reminds me a bit about the Aztec sacrifical practice where, in lack of a convenient enemy to do, a citizen was selected by the priests to be raised in a unique honor. For one year, the young man lived as a king and had only to ask to have all his desires met. But when the year ended, a dull knife and a cold altar were the only accomodations left. This story follows the same theme (with a lot less gore.) Our candidate is cast amoung the elite in a beautiful futuristic society. Will our
hero be a player or an Aztec-type pawn?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brunners Imagination, November 26, 1999
By
Kim Gordon (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Players At the Game of People (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is a remarkable achievement - Brunners imagination has reached new heights as he explores an alien invasion that cannot be seen, heard or felt. It manifests itself in the most intimately personal areas that a human posesses - their minds.
