We picked up this book from the library for my 2 1/2 year old son, but it is such a favorite, we have to buy it. Her torn paper illustrations are enjoyable to look at and the story is cute, with good rhymes and alliteration. My son loves all the animals and wants to act out the actions in the book. And he really relates to the story - at the end, he doesn't want the little girl to have to go home.

My young daughter adored Jennifer Merz's first book, "That Dancin' Dolly," so I was excited to learn that a new children's book by the same author was going to be released. We were not disappointed! "Playground Day" is brimming with exquisite colorful and and vivid illustrations, which conjure a whole world as if through a child's eyes, and literally seem to "pop" off the page. The storyline is great for young children (my three-year-old is thrilled with each turn-of-the-page, and enjoys, with great anticipation, seeing which animal will appear next- - she never tires of the book and its charm, and it has become a bedtime favorite!) A simply beautiful and enchanting book; one that any pre-schooler will enjoy again and again-- highly recommended!
