5.0 out of 5 stars Rolie Polie is Oodles of Fun
I bought this CD ROM for my 3 year-old daughter, who is just crazy about the Rolie Polie Olie TV show. She is really enjoying the game! 1.0 out of 5 stars Messed Up My Computer ! !
After first loading and playing this awhile, the images got all fuzzy.
This problem was then passed on to anything my child tried to do on her computer - all games, even the opening screen.
The problem did not go away until I uninstalled Rolie.
My daughter loves the show but found the play value very disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Sweet Little Kids Game!!, November 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Playhouse Disney's Rolie Polie Olie: The Search for Spot (CD-ROM)
Bought this game shortly after it was released and my kids (2 and 4) have been delighted by Olie, Spot, Zowie and Pappy ever since they started playing it. Clickable objects scattered throughout the Polie home play sounds and animate when the kids click on them and the games are lightly educational and thoroughly enjoyable. (I've even been caught looking for Pappy's teeth in Tubby!!)

Lots of fun and O-So-Cute!

The computer has a 333MHz Pentium, Windows 98 Plus, 128Mb ram, 1Gb available on hard drive, and an 8Mb graphics accelerator card - so well exceeds the system requirements called for by this game.

I bought this for my 2 year old granddaughter. She just loves it. She can't quite maneuver the mouse to get where she needs to go all the time, but she'll get the hang of it. The colors are bright and there is lots of activity. Sometimes the program gets confused and errors out, but it always recovers nicely and doesn't just close or lock up your system.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buggy and brief, January 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Playhouse Disney's Rolie Polie Olie: The Search for Spot (CD-ROM)
My son loves Rolie Polie Olie and I really enjoy reading the books to him, but I've been pretty disappointed in this software title.

In short, consistent with what some others have reported, it just doesn't work very well. Despite my system meeting the minimum requirements easily, the software only works sporadically, and when it does it's often herky-jerky with pixelated graphics.

It's also not at all clear what you're supposed to do, which makes it a tough slog. But even once you've figured it out, there's just not much to it. When it's working, it looks cool, but the 3 or 4 games it contains aren't anything to get exciteed about.

I'm giving 2 stars only because my kid is an RPO fan and because of that has still managed to enjoy the game some. I suspect that won't last past the novelty.

1.0 out of 5 stars Slow, buggy and badly designed, December 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Playhouse Disney's Rolie Polie Olie: The Search for Spot (CD-ROM)
The CD claims it works on 95/98/Me/XP. having XP I can tell it's _not_ true for XP. For starters, it will tell you "no disc inserted" unless you run the game as administrator. It defeats the purpose of creating accounts if your 2 year old son has to log on or run stuff as administrator. I can't understand why it's so slow on a 2.6Ghz computer with 1Gb of memory.
Then when you exit the game, your desktop colors become messed up. You need to log off and back on to retrieve correct colors.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame, March 16, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Playhouse Disney's Rolie Polie Olie: The Search for Spot (CD-ROM)
This game is lame. I had no technical problems whatsoever, the game is simply boring. I agree with the other review that says it's hard to figure out what you are supposed to do. The game doesn't make any sense. It's counter intuitive - a very bad thing for a kid game. I got it as part of a suite of kids software, and I'm thankful that I didn't buy it separately. But, I have to live with the never-ending cycle of my 2 year old wanting to hear the song and see the characters (she cried until I load the CD) like it's a cartoon. Then, she gets frustrated and cries when she has no idea what to do. And, my 4 year old became almost immediately bored with the game when it's pointless nature became evident to her as well. She went back to the Scooby Doo mysteries (which are really good). I think I'm going to uninstall it and throw it in the garbage just to get away from it. It's that bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent fun, a bit repetitive, March 29, 2003

My 3yr old really likes this game. I have spent several months taking him through the games and house since he didn't know how to use a mouse click yet. He recently picked it up and now uses the game on his own much to my relief. I still have to help him out since he sometimes gets stuck.
I find the scripts/lines that the characters say will overrun the other sounds that are being made and it can get very annoying at how many times it will repeat wanting you to play whichever game you are in the room for. It isn't clear, at least to me, that you have to play all 3 games before you can find Spot and activate the 4th game. I wish there were more games in the software. A bit limiting there.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointed!, November 16, 2001
By A Customer

We waited for months for this to be released and we were thrilled that it finally shipped. Unfortunately, we had problems with it from the start. The installation crashed my machine. Then, once it installed, running the game crashed my machine. It works intermittently, but it does work, so decided to keep it. My daughter is 2, and is definitely young for the game, but I don't think it will keep her attention even when she's older. It's extremely slow and clunky too. Overall, I'm just really unhappy with the whole thing. The only thing going for it is that it's Olie! And, of course, the characters in the show are cute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest movie for toddlers, November 13, 2001

These Rolie Polie movies are the greatest and my 2 yr. old really liked this one. He just loves them and they keep he so entertained so I get some work done around the house. He glues himself to the movie that the only way you can get his attention is by turning it off, that is how much he loves it. I'm so glad that they have come out with these little movies and they are so cute, they are not scary, they have no volience of any type like alot of shows, and that is very important in our home.

Thanks for producing such good little shows for little ones.
