A classic from the master,

It's great to see this available on CD. It originally came out in the mid 80's, and I used to have it on video, recorded from the HBO presentation. This was one of his last really funny routines before he began to slip into bitterness and repetition. From the opening riff, when he goes off on all the possible ways to say hello and good-bye, he shows us his love of wordplay. Later on are the classic routines about how football, basketball, & football are the only real sports, as well as the one on losing stuff. This being George Carlin, the language is beyond R-rated, but it is also beyond funny. Buy it -- you won't be disappointed.

If you like satirical comedy, you'll love this. The piece on sports is one of the best comedy bits I've ever heard. If you're a Carlin fan, this CD is a must have.

George Carlin to the Rescue!,

There isn't much that George Carlin can't make fun and make it all enjoyable! If you need to feel better about the world as you see it, look at it through his eyes. He is funny, insightful and while he may be angry, it is the stuff that is worth being angry about. I very highly recommend this CD, as long as you are okay with adult language.

I loved the pre-9/11 George. This is an excellent example of his 'best' work.

I have this on vinyl, but it was cheap enough I figured it was easier than trying to rip and edit it from the record. Carlin was a lover of language, I've always enjoyed listening to his stuff.

When George Carlin passed away, I realized how much I always loved all his 'stuff' and wondered why I did't have any of it. This is the first one I just bought, and I will eventually buy everything. I laughed all the way to work listening to George and remembering.

George Carlin before he "Did It Again",

This tape is great. I enjoyed this cassette because George is just hilarious. If you've ever lost anything in your life, you'll appreciate this skit. How many of us have actually looked in the freezer for the car keys? More than will actually admit. If you like George Carlin, you'll love this tape and you've probably already heard it. If not, you've missed out on some of his greatest stuff.

Carlin with an edge,

Those expecting Hal Sleet, the Hippy Dippy Weatherman, may not recognize this version of Carlin, but it is satiric commentary at its finest - with a higher energy level. Carlin still excels in exploiting the ludicrousness of the mundane ("Love and Regards," one of his best bits ever) and just plain silliness ("Groups and Charities," "Sports"), but this is edgier. Carlin began tapping into his anger in the '80s and it produced even sharper observations ("Battered Plants", "Missing") in rants that make Dennis Miller look like an amateur. There is more rage in such works as "Back in Town," "Jammin' in New York" and "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics," all of which I suggest, but to those who need a softer introduction into later Carlin should try this one first.
