They seem to be made out of fairly sturdy plastic.

This toy is a nice idea for kids who could have trouble with card games as the number of cards to be held increase. It is not completely intuitive and you have to teach the kids to slide the cards in a certain way and make sure that they do not mess up the two thin pieces of sponge/foam inside that act as the holder. You basically pinch the two discs on one end and that creates an opening for you to slide the cards in at the other end. The foam makes sure that the cards stay. My son uses it all the time when we play card games.

We play a lot of progressive rummy in my family, and when you get to the end of the game, having half a deck of cards in your hand is not uncommon. So many cards can be difficult to manage and has lead to many hand cramps. These holders are an excellent solution. They seem to be made out of fairly sturdy plastic. They also don't work like some of the other card holders I have used before. They use a spring that you push on in the middle to separate the holder to insert cards, meaning the two discs of the holder cannot be spun opposite of each other unless you want to break the holder. Not a big deal, just something different.

The foam insert between the discs became jammed and made the holder useless in just a few minutes.

These are super cheap little things, probly costs less than a penny to make all 4, but they work really well! We use them when playing pinochle and always commenting about how great they are for holding your cards so you don't have to have a tight grip on them and makes them easy to place into order and keep from having a card disappear half way thru the game. There are two thin layers of foam held together which allows the cards to be held snug in place. They seem like a dollar store item but for what they do they do a pretty good job. I don't fully agree that they should cost as much as they do, upwards of $5 seems steep.

There is a thin sponge on the inside to help hold the cards. It keeps getting pushed down so the card holders do not work.

We love this style of card holders. We play Canasta and these holders perfect for holding many cards. They work very good for older people with arthritis in their hands. These are a quality product.

We've had no problem so far with the card holder once we learnt how to hold it to avoid pushing the foam insert down when inserting the cards.. Hopefully it will be usable for a long time but once the foam moves (collapses) it will not be usable.

These card holders work nicely. Makes it easier to keep a handfull of cards straight. Each will holder around 20 cards, so you might need to have two for games like 7-Hand Rummy or Hand-and-Foot. Haven't had them long enough to judge the durablity, though. But, for my mother-in-laws artheritic hands, these are just the ticket. They also keep you from bending the cards out of shape as bad.
