I saw an article on this book in Cosmopolitan and I liked the tips that were offered, so I went ahead and bought the book.

It is an easy read and it has a lot of common sense stuff that you probably would have figured out yourself but would have preferred someone told you.

Mrs. Perron makes a good job of offering affordable tips and plenty of resources. The decorating tips and guidelines will help you make your living space much more comfortable and 'yours'.

The cooking and wine sections are complete without being complex and eventhough I defend myself rather well in the kitchen, she gives simple ideas to make every meal better.

The entertaining section is one of the best parts of the book. Once I marry, I hope to host get-togethers at home and this chapter offered lots of simple yet great pointers.

I bought this book because I am getting married next March and I want to make sure that I have an idea of how to keep house. This book is a great reference guide and I would recommend it to both girls and guys who want to make their living space a comfortable and hip place to live.

I would have given it 5 stars but I was a bit disappointed that the book has almost no pictures or diagrams which would have been useful for some of the tips and instruction Celeste offers.

I picked this up thinking this would be a great gift for recent college grads and newlyweds. But after browsing a few chapters, I realized I too still had a lot to learn at age 32. It's a smart, entertaining read on being a grown-up with style and a sense of humor. Perron breaks it down for us busy working girls with great ideas for making entertaining, decorating, cooking, and cleaning easy, less daunting, and dare-I-say FUN.

Celeste's advice covers EVERYTHING I wish I knew starting out. I could have saved so much money spent on bad decorating and cooking if I had someone to give me the information provided clearly and with great wit in this book. Honestly, I don't think this is just for gals - my little brother could use it too!

This is a succinct and practical guide to being a domestic goddess. My husband wishes I had this book 5 yrs ago. I keep referring back to it, and demonstrating smashing improvements. I think this is a perfect gift or stocking stuffer, for those fresh young grads...but really any modern woman.

This book is such a treasure. It is filled with dozens and dozens of wise and practical tips for anyone who is living on their own. For instance, which brand of paint is considered to be the best? Not to mention the easy and original recipes for dinner parties, tips on how to clean everything, and information about choosing wine. Her style is sophisticated but not fussy and so easy to follow on any budget. Everyone I know is getting this book from me this year!

I'm basically a total idiot when it comes to keeping house, because I was raised by a groovy '70s mom who couldn't be bothered. That was fun, but frankly I really just needed some homey home advice, and this book gave it to me! Plus it's so cute. I didn't feel like a dork buying it and it is sooooo helpful. Like having a cool next door neighbor who knows stuff.

Why didn't someone think of this book before? It's shows you how to have a great home without being fussy or ultra-perfect!! What a wonderful book for anyone who wants to have a more comfortable, beautiful and inviting home, whether just for yourself to enjoy or to entertain others as well. This is such a cute book and the advice from professional decorators, chefs, housekeepers etc. is wonderful. My favorite are the tips on curtains and cooking to impress a guy!! I'm going to keep this in my kitchen next to my cookbooks - it's that indispensable!!
