Book Description

~ "It is heartbreaking to read the story of their separation, two people who never got over each other no matter the involvements in between...and swooningly, gorgeously romantic to see them working their way back to each other through poem and song." --LeeAnn, Goodreads reviewer and bookseller

Violet Smith and Zach Aubrey have history...
...the kind of history he regrets and she wishes she could forget.

She was the girl. The only girl. Ever.

Nine years have passed since successful, brilliant songwriter, Zach, slept with, then walked away from, his best friend, Violet. But that doesn't change the fact that he's never gotten over her.

He shattered her heart.

Despite the years that have passed, chick-lit novelist, Violet, vividly recalls the pain of Zach's rejection, and hates that she's never been able to completely let go of the brooding boy who turned his back on her.

When the rocker and the writer find themselves thrown back together in a strange twist of fate, their chemistry is just as scorching as ever, but old wounds don't just disappear. Even if Zach can explain why he walked away from Violet, can she find the courage to trust him again? Together they will discover if a love that broke them both is worth a second chance at forever.

Playing songs, playing for keeps...
...Playing for Love at Deep Haven

Review

~"I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting." --Stephanie Lasley, The Kindle Book Review

~"It's so refreshing to see a book whose characters not only lust after each other...and this is a VERY sexy book...they also like and love each other, both in the past and the present...and, they hope, in the future. It is heartbreaking to read the story of their separation, two people who never got over each other no matter the involvements in between...and swooningly, gorgeously romantic to see them working their way back to each other through poem and song." --LeeAnn, Goodreads reviewer and bookseller

~"I'm a huge Katy Regnery fan, so I wasn't surprised that I loved this book..." --USA Today Bestselling author, Samanthe Beck

~"Do not miss this book. It is beyond amazing. I read several genres and this is in my top five favorite secular romances. I read 350 or more books a year so that makes this book a fabulous find." --Melody Cox, Vine Voice

~"This story is intensely emotional and you won't be able to put it down." -- Smut & Bonbons

~"This book wasn't typical, in that I couldn't predict if they would ever reconcile the past with the present. I was pulled into the emotions that both characters felt, and was on the edge of my seat until the very end." --Amazeballs Book Addicts

~"...not since Fifty Shades has a book captured and held me so tightly." -- Read|Tweet|Repeat

~"This was an unexpected find amongst many books that I have waiting for me to be read." --Up All Night Book Blog

From the Author

Intense, emotional and deeply romantic, this hybrid Adult/NA tale of lost love and second chances will appeal to those readers who love the emotional intensity of contemporary romance and the brooding angst of new adult love stories.

I love all of my book characters - I really do. They're all special to me in their own ways, and as I'm writing them, I become very attached to them. But, I deeply, deeply love Zach and Violet.

Their story is so intense, so totally focused on them alone, I almost felt as though I was storytelling someone else's actual story, not channeling one of my own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Z and Violet...Like the Flower January 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Zach and Violet met in college, became best friends and later became lovers for one evening. After Violet confesses her love for Zach that night, he informs her he does not feel the same way. He walks out; leaving her completely devastated and her heart scarred for life. As time passes Zach realizes his mistake and secretly pines for her. He even has a tattoo of a violet placed on this wrist, rubbing it often as he thinks of her. Nine years later fate steps in with a chance encounter. The attraction and chemistry they once shared is still there. Each one is secretly addicted to the other but they both still put up walls to guard their hearts. Suffering from self doubt, each afraid to trust the other with the love they both still feel.
I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting. While deeply engrossed in this novel, my husband tried to lure me into the kitchen to make him supper...whatever! I found myself days later thinking of my own first love. I felt so happy for Zach and Violet receiving an opportunity to mend their hearts. Not everyone gets a second chance with their first love. Will Zach and Violet end up together? Can they put the past behind them and unite forever? I'm no book spoiler. You will have to read this well written book to find out.
This could easily be made into a Hallmark movie. Thank you Katy Regnery for writing such a beautiful Contemporary Romance Story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! January 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
My reaction after finishing Playing for Love at Deep Haven--- WHOA! And I didn't mean it in a negative.

This book is amazing!

I love all of Katy's work so far, but I have to say this one is definitely my favorite of hers.

The plot is brilliant. And I enjoyed Violet and (especially) Zach very much. I wasn't expecting a lot of steam in this novel, but oh boy does Katy bring it!

What I loved about this novel the most compared to Katy's other works is that I felt thoroughly engaged. All of Katy's books are amazing. But by "thoroughly engaged" I mean that I felt more emotionally invested in this one. I don't know about you. But I like having my emotions toyed with while reading a book. For me, it makes a book more enjoyable. I felt Violet's pain after discovering what Zach had done to her nine years earlier. And I felt how sorry Zach was for what he did and how much he truly loves her. There were moments where I wanted to tell Zach to slow down. And there were moments where I was frustrated because Violet couldn't say those three magical words. Even though my emotions were all over the places, I definitely was able to see how much Zach and Violet love each other. I loved watching them find their happily ever after.

Playing for Love at Deep Haven is the perfect story about a second chance at love. It's flawless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can you say AMAZING???? January 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Playing for Love at Deep Haven (Enchanted Places, Book 1) was an AMAZING story of possible second chances, Love and Honor. While I was reading this book, I was so entralled in the story line. I hated to have interupptions while I was trying to read it. I was ON EDGE through the whole book trying to anticipate what would happen next and what they would choose to do. It is a real life possiblity love triangle type story. I was soooo impressed with the way this book was written.
The heart knows what the heart wants. And sometimes fighting the heart is a winning battle, but sometimes its a losing battle.
I believe that everyone should read this excellent book. I WILL be recommending this book to anyone who will listen to me!

3.0 out of 5 stars Moved a bit slow January 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded it as a freebie because it captured my interest with a setting on the coast of Maine, a musician and a rekindling of an old love. Though written well, for me this was not a page turner. The lead male, Zach, was not believable as a heavy metal musician - I'm not sure if it was because I couldn't fit that persona into a Yale student and Julliard graduate or why but his character seemed a bit contrived to me. By the end even though it was an happy ever after I as the reader was thinking these two are so different, I'm not sure even in fiction this relationship could work. Other reviewers really liked it so maybe my opinion that it was just okay is the exception.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rollercoaster ride January 9, 2014
By Negar
Format:Kindle Edition
So many emotions. You're up, you're down, you're frustrated with one, then the other, you feel sorry for a dead guy and want to kick an old man with arthritis in the balls. All in the same book. You had better carve out several hours for this, because this is not a book you want to take several days reading.

It went by too fast, but the payoff was great. That just means I get to read it again.

I usually hate flashbacks because most authors who use this technique do so randomly, which interrupts the flow, or they spend soo long on the past, they forget to flesh out the present. This author carries it off beautifully. The flashbacks make sense, and they are so vivid, it's like you are getting two stories for the price of one.

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
