5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it from Amazon.de
If you planning on buying Another Day and Playing my game from Amazon, I suggest you get it from Amazon Germany (i.e. www.amazon.de). I just paid only Euro 14.00 for both of these albums. It is available as a double album from Amazon Germany. Great Deal. It would be a total of $39 USD including standard shipping.

3.0 out of 5 stars This cd ain't the best in the world but better than others
I bought this album coz the booklet and the cover were really well done and coz I liked Unforgivable Sinner, but I expected it to be better. The singles which came out were ok, no doubt, but the other tracks are so boooooring....my God, I put this cd in the player when I need to get a sleep! I don't say the songs are bad, they have a good sound, but there's too slowness,...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sweetest, most Beautiful voice ever!, February 22, 2000
By
This review is from: Playing My Game (Audio CD)
I just finished listening to this cd and its like, wow! After the awesome Sitting Down Here was released as a single, I had been dying to hear more of Lene's music. Thankfully, Virgin have granted her debut album a release here, in Britain. You know how most albums, after your initial listen, there are always one or two tracks you skip, or are not that fond of, well this is the first album since, probably Counting Crows' August and Everything After that I have loved all the way through. Lene's voice is sooo darn sweet and her lyrics just melt your heart. Most of the songs are kinda sad, about rejection or love gone bad or, in one case the death of a loved one. You just cant help but feel for the lovely singer. My fave tracks, after Sitting Down Here, of course, are Unforgivable Sinner, a slightly more rockier song, the title track, Flown Away, which is the kind of song that makes you wanna hug Ms Marlin, like to assure her that everything's gonna be okay and then there's A Place Nearby, listen to the lyrics, between Lene's voice and the piano, only the most cynical person wont be moved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attractive 19 yr old Norwegian with angelic voice. A must ., October 31, 1999

The 1st single "Unforgivable Sinner" reached the #1 position on the Norway music charts in March 1999 and she broke all Norway sales records for a single release by a debut artist. As of late 10/99 she has sold approximately 600,000 copies of this CD. She plays the guitar and sings with this soft feminine voice. Her songs have straight forward, down to earth lyrics. She just won all 4 catagories she was nominated in at the 9/99 Norway music awards. Most of her European success has been in Italy. She is definitely one artist who should be released in the U.S.A. The United states music industry seems more interested in creating an atmosphere instead of good music, but this singer offers both. I cant believe a U.S. record label hasn't jumped on this opportunity yet. I play this soothing CD at the beach and am constantly asked "Who is that?"

5.0 out of 5 stars You have to get it!, February 10, 2001

Some slow songs but some upbeat music. I'm surprised that this album is not more popular. It's constant beautiful music coming out one note after the other. Her voice is unique and beautiful and I'm sorry that not many people in the U.S. and other places have not been able to hear it. It's one of my favorite albums ever and I'm sure that you'll love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen..., September 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Playing My Game (Audio CD)
I have to say that when I found only two reviews of this CD, I was shocked. It is Amazing. Don't liken Lene to any of the US crop of Mickey Mouse Club spinoffs...yes, I'm speaking of Britany, Christina, et al... She is definately in a league of her own. Her songs are lyrical, her words sum up so eloquently the subtle nuances of human nature, and her voice echoes like that of a well seasoned singer. All I can say is take a listen, and I can say with a great deal of confidence that you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful cd, December 17, 2002

I first heard this cd when I was living in Italy. I immediately went out and bought it. What beautiful music Lene makes. The lyrics hit so close to home. Her voice is amazing and she has excellent guitar skills. Its really too bad this was never released in the US, but then again I get the feeling that Lene is above the typical American pop star. I don't think she would want to sell out to the media like that.
European music is just amazing. I wish I still lived there for the music alone. Her sound is a cross between Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, & Dido. She has a very pretty, feminine voice and the lyrics are very real. I have much respect for Lene, and look forward to any future music she might make.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG! Good..., May 20, 2001

This CD, which I bought a long time ago and have forgoten to review, is awesome! I heard her when I went to Italy in March of last year, and went looking for it when I came back. I was saddened to be unable to find it in the stores, but then again all good music seems that way. So, I went to ... ...and lo and behold! there it was. Therefore I went and snached it up quickly.

All of the songs are very good on this CD, I can't have a favorite one, it would detract from the others. This is an amazing CD from a girl who, if not in the limelight now, would probably be doing normal teen-to-20y.o. things...

I just wish that the US would get better musicians, like Lene, to sing and entertain us, as we seem to have the WORST music taste ("Bye Bye Bye"...that's a *HIT* song? And If she won't "Quit playing games" with your heart, then dump her sorry _ _ _.) (sorry for my ranting..don't let it detract from my review...I am ardent with my MUSIC).

OVerall, this was a good buy...try it if you like a Pop or EuroPop style of music.

once in a while we get the chance to witness a new star here is one with very little advertising or gimicks this brigth star has given ten songs to marvel at and there is not a single word to discribe the album. she offers an insight into her views this gives each song an edge to it and invites you to listen and become involved in each song.a very difficult album to turn off not a single bad song and as good a debut album as i've heard.with the music set a tariffic mood lene marlin's angelic voice just blows you into a world that allows you to drift with the music. an under rated album worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not The Usual Teenage Pop, October 6, 2000
This review is from: Playing My Game (Audio CD)
Lene Marlin is an interesting artist. She is from Norway. Her debut album has sold over 1 million in Asia while hardly anyone knows who she is here in the United States. The first time I encountered her music was actually through a cover by a Chinese artist who is in the same label as Marlin.

Title track "Sitting Down Here" is a mid-tempo refreshing folk-pop that has topped all major charts in Asia and Europe. I'm shocked that *nobody* at Tower Records or Virgin Megastore have ever heard about Lene. What a shame fellow American folk! At least the Gap stores play this track well over months.

"Playing My Game" is a welcoming continuation of the first track with more exploration in folk-electronic. I guess Marlin's success ascribes to mature lyrics and music production and the variation of folk music combining with other elements. You will find refreshing and surprising arrangements from track to track. You will not find formulaic karaoke-friendly sugar-coated songs commoned among the American counterparts.

Some of the most impressive lyrics can be found in "The Way We Are" "One Year Ago" and "A Place Nearby". It will be quite an experience to listen and pay attention to her lyrics. The album will take a while to digest as you will need to listen to it again and again. If you are tired of weak teenage boppers, try Lene Marlin. If you're in the line for artist like David Gray, you should also try Lene Marlin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poetry written in music...., May 21, 2000
By
This review is from: Playing My Game (Audio CD)
All I can say is, thanks Lene.

It's been YEARS since I've actually bought an English-language music album that's had 'content' in its lyrics.

Here are 10 brilliantly written songs that came straight from the singer's heart, into your living room. (or anywhere you're listening to this CD)

Anyone who hasn't had the chance to listen to any of these songs, go check out some website and just read the lyrics. It's totally different from all that bubblegum pop that the industry's currently littered with. Heartfelt, moving and meaningful...

Great music, fantastic vocals, what more could anyone ask for in a CD?

I willingly give this album 5 stars, even though honestly, 5 just isn't enough...
