4.0 out of 5 stars The music's great anyway
This is the "best" of the Epic years. Am I the only one who saw that? For about $2.00 plus shipping this is a great buy! No this isn't really The Best of The Allman Brothers Band. Their first record came out in 1969. I'd need a 4 disc set to include all my best of choices. These are some great songs; 1 star is just ignorant.

1.0 out of 5 stars "The Best of the Allman Brothers"
I don't know who put this "playlist" together, but whoever it is is neither a fan of the band nor someone who ever went to one of their concerts. If he actually did go to a concert he was too stoned or too busy schmoozing to remember what they played. Anything that claims to be the best of the Allmans and doesn't have "One Way Out", "Whippin Post", Statesboro Blues", "Trouble No More", "Revival" or "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" is hoping it will be bought on the strength of the title by people who don't know what they're looking for. If you're looking for a good pulling together of memorable Allman songs, this ain't it.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is no way, The Best Of The Allman Brothers Band, July 27, 2009

Ok, I'm checking this out, I'm an Allman Brothers band before alot of this mediocre came around. There are plenty of Allmans, Best Of CDs around, but this ain't one of them. Just somebody trying to make money, and using alternate versions, That wasn't the classic Blue Sky with Dickey and Duane. Since they kicked Dickey out of the band, they should not be claiming his material for their own.
This is a quickly put together list of more recent songs without Betts and Duane, 2 of the best guitarists in rock history, Dickey still is.
Before you pick up a best of, check what's on it, There are a few on this site much better than this.

1.0 out of 5 stars ABB not responsible for this rehash...., February 17, 2010
This review is from: Playlist: The Best of Allman Brothers (Audio CD)
....and although I agree with the other reviewers here, I would like to point out that the Band itself has nothing to do with these endless regurgitations that seem to sprout like mushrooms every year or so.

A few years ago I was involved in a lively discussion about one of these non-essential slapdash collections on the ABB's website and I volunteered that the band had no say or input into any of these. I also said that I bet that they didn't even get any royalties on the really early stuff. Shortly thereafter Butch Trucks, one of the two drummers in the band (and the uncle of the great and gifted Derek Trucks) posted that I was correct and that the original surviving 4 partners-Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts (even though he was no longer in the band at the time, he was still a partner and continued to receive royalties), Butch and Jaimoe, the other drummer-got a whopping royalty of 5 cents on the dollar, split 4 ways. He also said that every time that another of these cheap compilations gets foisted upon the unsuspecting buying public it makes him so angry it makes his blood boil. And having been in his presence when he was not a happy camper (on the elevator in the Georgian Terrace Hotel after the ABB played at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on Sunday night during their legendary run in '94, when they played Blue Sky for the first time without Dickey Betts, a move that Butch vehemently opposed) I can attest that he can be a very passionate man, to say the least.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another rip-off, September 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Playlist: The Best of Allman Brothers (Audio CD)
This CD was suppose to be the Great Playlist of the Epic Years and the NEW Eco-Friendly cardboard package, and all I see is a re-issue of 2004 CD called "The Essential Allman Brothers Band / The Epic Years. So why pay for a new Cd or as they want you to believe, a great NEW PLAYLIST that anyone would be proud to own and YES a true ABB fan would already have this in there collection about five years ago. So why are they pushing these NEW playlist when the ALLMAN BROTHERS has so much new material out there now, we need something new from them. Or are the producers just trying to get more of our cash for something that is already out in print? Who is to blame....ABB or the money hungry producers or who? This CD is just not worth paying cash for the same stuff...five years OLD and five years ago
