This collection confirmed why FOS was my favorite band back in the early 80's - every single song is the best New Wave from back in the day. A must have for every FOS fan, or any 80's music fan!

If you are looking for a good one-disc compilation for this group, this is probably the best one currently available. (The GOLD AND PLATINUM collection was really good, but it is now out of print.) The sound is good, and the track selection is hard to argue with, as it leaves out none of the biggest tunes and includes a sizeable portion of the next-best stuff. This should satisfy most casual and semi-casual fans completely; if you get this and think that you may still be missing something, grab a copy (new or used) of their debut album. Between this and that, you will cover virtually everything they did that is truly worth having.

I got in Flock of Seagulls when I was in the ninth grade and I had their first album on LP but had my record collection stolen so I been replacing my old LP's with cd's and was hppy to come across this album. They where different when they came on the rock scene and if you like new bands or looking for a new sound give them a try.

I am an unapologetic fan. For a moment Flock of Seagulls was the sound of Southern California. This compilation has all the best songs and I was a wonderful tool to travel back in time to those halcyon days of summer.

I was not alive when most of the music on this CD came out... I had heard "I Ran" but never knew who it was by. I had heard of "A Flock of Seagulls" but never knew which songs were theirs. However after hearing "Wishing" on an 'oldies' radio station I fell in love, and was finally able to associate specific music to the band.

I was apprehensive to buy a CD based off of 2 songs I liked, in the past I have done just that and been disappointed when those two songs were the only thing good on the whole CD. That WAS NOT the case with this CD! Listening to this I don't know how the band didn't retain its popularity...At the time, I'm sure they were very popular, but for whatever reason they weren't able to keep their fame through the emerging new generations like some bands from the 80s have.

Some of the tracks are a bit slower with less synth, some are more experimental with a very lighthearted pop 80s feel, but by far my favorites are the ones that have a similar feel to "I Ran" and "Wishing," slightly heavier 80s pop-rock sound, lots of synth and guitar, good melodies, and more serious lyrics (case and point: "Remember David".) Some of my favorite similar songs on the CD are "It's Not Me Talking", "Nightmares", and "Remember David". Just discovering those tracks were justification enough for buying this compilation!

FINAL NOTE ON PHYSICAL CD PACKAGING: One other cool thing about this particular compilation is its packaging is 'eco-friendly', which is a bummer for the old school CD fans that cherish liner notes, but the liner notes and pictures are still available... all you have to do is put the CD in your computer and open them in an electronic format. To make up for the lack of physical liner notes, this CD is already available in mp3 format when inserting into the computer, meaning the songs can go right on an mp3 player without conversion. A fair trade I suppose.

You can not have enough best of collections from A Flock of Seagulls. The band is determined to see how many times you can repackage the same songs into new albums. I've bought each one of them and I pretend each time that I'm hearing the songs for the first time. That isn't easy to do because I have heard the songs before. I end up mowing my lawn for three hours while doing bird calls. That kind of clears my head. When I heard "I ran" again for the first time, it was as fresh as ever. I like "I ran" because there were several times where I just ran growing up. I was scared of many things when I was 9. That was an awkward age for me due to NBC's Tuesday night lineup. I would run from just about anything, I ran so far away. I remember one day where I ate too much breaded cauliflower. That night, there were lightning bugs out in my front yard. I was messed up on Cauliflower so I thought the lights on them were lasers like Star Wars. I ran, I ran so far away because I thought they were after me. Turns out that their lights were just that, lights. There is no need to be afraid of lightning bugs. They will not hurt you most of the time. There are certain types of snakes and bugs you should look out for though.

My hair right now looks just like Mike Score's classic cut. I have dark hair so it looks much better than his ever did. The key is constant improving. A lot of your friends just kind of plateau at a certain level, while Burns, J-abs, Kroll and me keep getting better. It makes for some very lopsided scores. No one likes that, but what can we do? We can have breakfast for dinner, that's what we can do.
