A Nice Survey of B&D's Career,

This review is from: Playlist: The Very Best of Brooks & Dunn (Audio CD)
The "Playlist: The Very Best of..." series has been a mixed bag so far. Too many of these compilations have been little more than a "Super Hits" kind of package, but this volume of Brooks & Dunn recordings stands a cut above that. For starters, this actually includes a few of their top charting hits, including the six-week #1, "Ain't Nothing 'Bout You." The inclusion of a handful of non-album cuts is also nice, collecting their contributions from a couple of tribute albums and the "King of the Hill" soundtrack. Kix Brooks sounds great on "Best of My Love," and Ronnie Dunn nails "Against the Wind." What puts this collection over the top, though, is the inclusion of a live recording of "Only in America" from Farm Aid 2004 (I believe this same recording was a Walmart exclusive bonus track for their "Greatest Hits Collection II") and the previously unissued cover of Merle Haggard's "The Fighting Side of Me." Brooks & Dunn completists will want to add this compilation to their library for sure.

If you have all their songs, then this is not for you. But, it is great music and belongs in most collections.
