Editorial Reviews

Welcome to the Playlist series. Painstakingly compiled by the artists and the music nuts at Legacy Recordings, these collections truly represent an artists' complete body of work. We've fished through hundreds-thousands-of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits (anyone can find those). The life changing cuts. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artist who they are.

You’ll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD (as opposed to MP3's that contain less information, which translate into compromised sound). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did.

A "very best of..." album for Los Lonely Boys. I don't think I was ready for that (as one of the longer term fans).

Putting that title in perspective, this is a broad sampling of music from the boys' work between 2003 and the 2008. It does not include their earliest work in 1997 (excluding Diamonds - but more later), nor does in include material from the late 2008 "Christmas Spirit" album.

However...(smile)

If one were to be allowed only one Los Lonely Boys album, the selection of songs here would be a pretty fair representation of five years work.

Some review:

You could not have the album without having Henry's heartfelt prayer-turned-to-music "Heaven". You get it twice here.

We get the lead single off each of the published albums:

* Heaven (two versions - album and acoustic)
* Diamonds (on the 1997 album, reworked, and rereleased on Sacred)
* Staying With Me (Forgiven)

And some of the more frequently played cuts - both on air and at shows:

* More Than Love (Radio Remix from Los Lonely Boys)
* Heart Won't Tell A Lie (Forgiven)
* Nobody Else (from Los Lonely Boys and my personal all time favorite so far)
* Roses (Sacred)
* Velvet Sky (Los Lonely Boys)
* My Way (Sacred)

A cover or two - with the Boys' performance signature on them:

* I Walk The Line (although it has been edited at the end - the Spanish is gone)
* La Bamba

And some songs that no one can figure out why...

lots of songs for the money, good choice of material. But and this is a big but,the recording is terrible, compressed to the point of no dynamic range, all subtlety is lost and the music is lifeless and only good for parties and background music, forget playing it on good headphones, your ears will tire quickly. unfortuneate

A friend of mine wanted a CD from Los Lonely Boys and I gave him this one. He has played it so much that he has to manually change the tracks because he has basically worn out the CD. Excellent band and a great CD!

There's not one song here that isn't great to listen to. Every time someone else hears it (as in when they're riding in my car with me), they ask, "Who is that?!" I'm surprised they aren't more popular.

Lemon-lime vocals as big and bold as the Gulf of Mexico with instrumentals equally as sparkling and syncopated, Los Lonely Boys alternately rock and serenade us in this Greatest Hits album. Their sound is both sensualistic and vibrant with a palpability that reaches into your heart and takes hold. Latin seasonings on this ‘Texas tornado’ of a group give it a worldly appeal of the Americas as opposed to a singular American nationalism. Quintessentially American (both Spanish and English) as it were, Los Lonely Boys delivers music that is more popular than lonely and more maturely developed than boyish.

I had only heard one song from Los Lonely Boys, and I was hooked! This has "Heaven," and an acoustic version of "Heaven" too. My favorites are "Velvet Sky," "Roses," and "My Way." Their sound has a bit of a country rock flavor tinged with blues, and as Los Lonely Boys call it, a "Texican" feel. Great vocals in harmony, and lots of funky guitar riffs!

Fab Buy at $6.99! Try it, You'll Like It!

I was not that familiar with the Los Lonely Boys, other than their hit single "Heaven". Wow! I am so glad I purchased this CD!
This one special group of talented men! From the amazing guitar riffs and lively beats, it is sure to please for anything from a long car trip, to the best outdoor party! Glad I purchased and my husband loved the music as well.

Saw these guys on a Christmas special on Imas in the Morning. Seam to have a Christian message but not preachy. Sound is a little like Stevie Ray Vaughn. Downloaded the album. Most songs are good, a few just ok. Still a good buy if you like Texas blues rock.
