Biography

Hip-hop trio Run-DMC were one of the most commercially and critically successful hip-hop acts of the 80s, and are credited by many as helping to popularise the then-underground genre. Run-DMC were the first rap act with a Top 5 single ("Walk This Way"), platinum ("King Of Rock") and multi-platinum ("Raising Hell") albums, the first rappers to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and the… Read more in Amazon's Run D.M.C. Editorial Reviews

Welcome to the Playlist series. Painstakingly compiled by the artists and the music nuts at Legacy Recordings, these collections truly represent an artists' complete body of work. We've fished through hundreds-thousands-of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits (anyone can find those). The life changing cuts. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artist who they are.

You’ll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD (as opposed to MP3's that contain less information, which translate into compromised sound). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sucker MC's, January 17, 2009
This review is from: Playlist: The Very Best of Run Dmc (Audio CD)
Reading the track list I found myself looking for those tracks that effected me the most. Where is "Rock Box"? Where is "Peter Piper"? Where is "Jam Master Jay"? Where is "Here We Go" Live at the Funhouse?

"It's Like That" definitly influenced by the Furious Five should be on the list, but it was the B-side to "Sucker MC's". Any novice with a turntable back then was using the intro to practice scratching or recreate "Big Beat". In the streets "Sucker MC's" was Run DMC's first hit.

Without these, the name should be ALMOST The Very Best of Run DMC.
