I am not really a fan of budget albums/CD's preferring to always purchase the artist's original full-length recordings, but this is a great Dolly budget CD both for the price and the fact that it is full of sacred recordings she made while at RCA.

A 14 track CD, "The Dolly Parton Playlist" contains five tracks from her first gospel album "The Golden Streets of Glory", along with the rare and never-before-released track "Would You now Him?" from "The Golden Streets..." recording sessions. That one track was released earlier this year for the first time on another compilation album called "Letter To Heaven: Songs of Faith and Inspiration". "The Master's Hand", "Wings of a Dove", and "I Believe" are all strong vocal peformances and the neat thing about these selections, like most of Dolly's early RCA work, is that the producers allowed Dolly's vocal to own the songs, not the instrumentation. If "The Golden Streets of Glory" had been recorded in Los Angeles by a pop producer Dolly's vocals would have been overshadowed by drums and steel guitars.

Other tracks here include her Top 10 duet with Porter Wagoner "Daddy Was an Old-Time Preacher Man" from their 1970 "Once More" album; the original recording of "God's Coloring Book" from 1971; "Sacred Memories" that Dolly originally recorded for her 1973 concept record "My Tennessee Mountain Home", but not released until a year later on the "Love is Like A Butterfly" album; the #2 1975 hit "The Seeker" which is where Dolly has a talk with God about not feeling good about herself during her turbulent relationship with Porter; "All I Can Do's" "Preacher Tom" (1976) which is full of banjo-picking with a neat beat; and the final track "There" from 1977's "New Harvest...First Gathering" where Dolly discusses Heaven and all its glory.

I just received this CD and started listening to it already. What I have heard so far is fantastic. Good

older hymns that bring back memories of "Tent Meeting" and what Christianity is all about. I applaud the makers of this "playlist", they did an outstanding job of pulling all of this together. Thank you!
