Editorial Reviews

Welcome to the Playlist series. Painstakingly compiled by the artists and the music nuts at Legacy Recordings, these collections truly represent an artists' complete body of work. We've fished through hundreds-thousands-of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits (anyone can find those). The life changing cuts. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artist who they are.

You’ll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD (as opposed to MP3's that contain less information, which translate into compromised sound). But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did.

1. Goodbye To You
2. Love's Got A Line On You

8. Hands Tied
9. Beat Of A Heart
10. Say What You Will

Definitely a good bunch of tunes in this collection.

I already own the CD "The Warrior" (bought it back when "long boxes" were the norm), so I don't mind the absence of songs from that album in this "best of" CD.

However, what I like most is presence of ALL of the tracks that were on Scandal's initial 5 song EP (yeah, I still have the cassette somewhere).
PLUS, it has 4 "unreleased" songs that were recorded from that same era.

Aside from the eco-friendly(?) packaging, the only annoying thing is format of the CD-ROM material.
Once the disc is placed in my computer, it wants to access the CD-ROM material first -- getting the CD tracks to play is a bit of a chore.
[NOTE: plays just fine in regular CD players].

Now, if only Patty or Scandal would only release some more songs!

Eco friendly packaging aside--which definitely sucks--this is a decent collection of Patty Smyth and company's songs. Everything from the debut EP is on here, and that's a very good thing, but I have a problem with the fact that "All I Want" from The Warrior is not included in this collection. Still, if you like good commercial 80s pop rock with one of the most distinctive female rock voices around, very strong hooks, and something you can listen to from that era without feeling embarrassed, Patty Smyth and Scandal are a viable representation of what was actually good about my old teen and 20s haunting grounds (i.e. the 80s). Highlights definitely include the outstanding "Say What You Will" and "Tonight." Need I even mention AOR classics like "Goodbye to You" or "Love's Got a Line on You?" Think not. Like nostalgia from the era that gave us movies like Better Off Dead? You can't go wrong with this collection. Just avoid the spiral perms, ankle socks with three-inch pumps, the Crockett and Tubbs look, and you'll be fine.

On this cd you will find your way back to the Eighties a decade I would like to forget and most of the music as well. But included on this cd I have always thought were just two of the best constructed pop songs I have every heard.Love has got a Line onYou is to my ear struck from the same vein as She Loves You and that takes a lot for me to say.It has it all one the best hooks I have ever heard, great beat and is in short everything a pop song should be remembrable. The other is The Beat of the Heart another very good songs who once heard stays with you.Patti Symth shines on this cd and if you had the great chance of seeing them or her during this you saw a star on the verge but it never really came to pass.So get in your back machine and take trip back when MTV was new and cool .

Really love this CD. I had to do some research of the rock groups of the late 70's and 80's greatest rock hits and luckily was able to listen to them on Amazon. Picked this as one of my choices. Use the rock music in my truck and have really enjoyed listening to Scandal.

Loved the songs when they were new and still do.
I still like owning the CD but storage space is an issue, the Eco package is fine by me.

This title is nothing but a reissue of We Are the '80s, except you get really crappy packaging, and no printed liner notes.

If you grew up in the 80's and had a thing for Patty, you're not going to be disappointed. Lots of good hits here!
