Perfect Collection for the Casual Fans,

This review is from: Playlist Your Way (Audio CD)
This collection contains all of The Bloodhound Gang's singles from the albums "One Fierce Beer Coaster" to "Hefty Fine", and all of the tracks are good, except for the spoken story "A Lap Dance Is So Much Better When the Stripper Is Crying", which parodies rednecks, I guess. It doesn't contain anything from their first album "Use Your Fingers", which is actually kind of too bad, since it also had its string of decent songs like "You're Pretty When I'm Drunk" and "Mama Say". Had these songs been included, it would have been more of a definitive compilation. There are no new songs either (as on the more recent collection "Show Us Your Hits"), but since this is a budget-line compilation it is to be expected. What it does contain, however more than make up for these mistakes, since it has all their hits ("Fire Water Burn", "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny", "The Bad Touch", "The Ballad of Chasey Lain", "Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo")... ...as well as essential album tracks and less charting singles ("I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get Chicks", "Why's Everybody Always Pickin' on Me", "Mope", "Along Comes Mary", "Uhn Tiss, Uhn Tiss, Uhn Tiss".) The only complaint I have is the packaging. It comes in one of those eco-packs, and it's impossible to fit the CD into the case without breaking it. This is just a small problem though, you just have to break some of the plastic in order to use it, or an even better idea: buy an ordinary plastic case. So if you're just a casual fan who only want their radio material, then this is the collection for you. It's worth every penny.

This really is the best of their 4 cds- cream of the crop even though there are many more I wished they could have tried to cram in, of course. These guys are awesome and I hope they didn't break up- hope to hear their 5th cd soon...

Bloodhound Gang- Playlist Your Way,
This review is from: Playlist Your Way (Audio CD)
Having been four years since their last release and nine years since their hysterical hit, "Bad Touch"aka "The Discovery Channel", Pennsylvania's own Bloodhound Gang finally return with another round of irreverent lyrics and strong rock instrumentation. Although I have heard some complain about their politics (one of the members allegedly moved out of the country when GW was contaminating the White House), their politics do not enter their lyrics, although perhaps "sophomoric" or simply "wonderfully poor taste" would apply. Most of their humor is derived from sexuality.
Instrumentally, they are a very tight combo, being sort of a throwback to 1980s retro music (not the commercial stuff) mixed with early 1990s grunge, although their range goes from electropop to rap to sixties pop; and their tasteless lyrics are sung by people who really aren't going to win "vocalist of the year" trophies, but in their own sick way, they are really very funny. This may be a compilation record, as I recognise two songs from earlier releases; or possibly a mix of old and new. But be aware, this is pretty much a frat boy CD. Somehow I don't think the women in your life will appreciate this one. Highlights include "I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get Chicks", a reprise of "Bad Touch", "Three Point One Four", "Mope", and "Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss". (3 stars out of 5)
