I couldn't wait to review this toy because I've never had such an opinion on a purchase before. Santa brought this to my 8 year old and she has loved it. It goes everywhere with her and provides lots of entertainment. BUT......I just can't wait for it to break or get lost because the content of it is so disappointing. The characters speak rudely, there is too much focus on appearance (including very skimpy clothing) and especially on dating and breaking up. My daughter doesn't understand why the game's mom and dad are mad all the time, why she is grounded, and why there is so much breaking up and going out. It is a toy marketed for her age, but definitely much more grown up in content, and not the kind of teen I want her to grow up to be! So, if you are just looking for a fun toy and don't care about emphasizing morals or values, then this is the toy for you!

The My Life Game is really fun. People say that it blinks and turns off but that just means that the batteries are low. It is a little bit hard for kids under the age of 8 because I let my little sisters try and they couldn't do it. It is a bit mature, though, because you have multiple boyfriends! The instructions booklet is vague and it took a while to figure things out like where the pink scooter is. (FYI it is parked right outside of your house. To go outside you walk through the door in the living room).

At school you play 4 mini games which can actually be fun! You get school credit for playing them. The booklet didn't say that there was an upstairs to the school. I figured that out my missing the door as I was leaving the building. (You get to the upstairs by walking into the wall on the right side of the door).

It is cool to manage your own money and hygiene needs and hunger needs. Although it is frustrating when you get stuck at the doctors! The parents in the game are strict and have rules just like regular parents. They give you allowance if you do good in school and come home when your supposed too. They pay you between 250 and 500 dollars. The bedroom comes all girly and pink, and I think you should be able to choose the color of it.

All in all, it is a fun and awesome game that at times may be a little hard to figure out. Some people think it is a waste of time and money. I don't agree. It IS worth your time and money!

I got this gift from Santa, and I have been looking for the batteries until last night. I discovered how much fun it is! I created a girl and played. It's fun to go everywhere on your motorcycle! I highly recommend this toy for people 9 and up.

Both of our daughters have one. This game teaches kids the important parts of life; hygiene, getting plenty of sleep, going to school on time, eating enough, chatting with friends, taking care of their pet, and staying healthy.

The instruction book with this game doesn't go into too much detail, but half the fun in this game is figuring out how to solve problems, speaking with people you meet in the game to find food, learning how to keep your health bars up.

We get about 12 hours of play per set of batteries, which isn't too bad. The reviewers that had their games blink black probably had weak batteries, the game does that when the batteries are even slightly weak.

This is a well-made game, durable and nicely sized.

Our daughters (ages 6 and 8) love their My Life games, and unlike mindless shooting or arcade games, this game teaches them about maintaining themselves and maintaining healthy relationships in a fun and engaging way.

To be warned though, unless your child has a lot of patience, you will need to help them through difficulties. And for the first few times playing it, your character will end up in the hospital one too many times and you won't be able to afford medicine to get out. At this point you'll need to reset the game by turning it off, holding down all three buttons on the front while turning it on again.

Finally, read the instruction book. If you are looking for a toy that you can just hand to your kid without any kind of parental guidance, this is not it. If you are willing to spend some time with your child and learn the game play, then you will find this game incredibly rewarding. I would give if five stars if I had the option.

The girls actually love this item. My niece is 10. The best part about it that the kids like is that they can go "online" and create their own "Virtual World." They can see their other friends online and all can go shopping. My guess is that the graphics are not as great on the "handheld" because it takes batteries. If the graphics were really amazing and in color it would take up the batteries. But what the kids really want it for is the software/instructions, so they play in their own virtual world online. Also, it's great for traveling. This is "the" top wish list item for my niece. Great sale too! Not sure if one key is included with this one.

This handheld game is wonderful! My girls love it. It is made really good and there is so many things that you can do with your character. Everything that you really do in everyday life you have to do in this game....eat, go to sleep, go to school, go to the mall..ect. It is amazing and loads of fun. I would recommend this game to anyone that has daughters.

I am the one who bought the toy, the one writing the review and actually i let my brother try it and he says " i love this game can i have one for myself just in blue?" and i thought he would rather play with his DS but no. He sneaks into my room JUST because he wants to play with it at night. Now i have to set a trap he likes it way too much. Anyway this is a good toy just not a perfect toy because i have already played everything and their is nothing more to explore.

Usually if you are new starting the game you will end up in the hospital. you will want to make sure you have at least five hundred dollars else you can't get out! At this point restart by turning it off and pressing the "A", "B", and, heart button. Then turn it on and your tour guide "Charlie will come and ask you saved data questions just read them and press "A" if you want to delete you existing. And "B" to go back if you want to stay it the hospital forever. The battery is frustrating DO NOT use rechargeable batteries use 3 alkaline AAA batteries and your game should work. This game is very realistic and addicting because sometimes even boys may be begging to play. Boys maybe ages 5-10? Girls maybe 7-13. For boys i said five just because my brother is five and loves the game! It's unusual but he is saving for his own now. i laughed and he punched me but brothers and sisters do that...It's a fun game...Realistic...Mostly for girls...And sort of addicting. I think it's an okay toy but you can buy keys for it you can play without the keys but it's just an extra and you can earn more money on sets of keys 1 and 4 because they both have credit cards. I don't have those sets but i hear they're very good for handling money. I want you to read more reviews because it's totally not a perfect game and the graphics are horrible!

BYE!

This toy is not bad, although I would never have paid $60 for it. The current price is not bad, though. The game reminds me of a simplified version of the Sims games, although customization is limited to only the character created and only one character may be used at all.

One of the nicer features of the game is the infrared link, which allows girls to interact with friends that are within a few feet in the form of texting and sending virtual gifts.

There does seem to be a lot of focus on interacting with a "boyfriend" within the game, which while not serious, may nonetheless be negative to some people.

All in all, this can certainly be entertaining for any preteen and even younger teen.

My girls really enjoy this toy. As long as the on/off switch doesn't break on you, this toy is a fine product. I had to return the first one we purchased, but the other two have worked out great.

I bought this for my 7 year old sister-in-law, and I am kind of embarrassed. This toy has topics in it that should not be for a young girl. It has boyfriends that cheat on her, but the game tells her to get back together with them, and it tell her she is on a diet. These are not the kind of things I want my seven year old sister-in-law to learn. My sister-in-law does love it, but as an adult that wants her to grow up with good morals and high self-esteem, I wish I never got it for her.
