I worked in a toy store over the holidays and fell in love with this Playmobil Victorian Dollhouse. That toy store offers free assembly, and I got to do lots of assembling, so trust me when I tell you two things: 1)Although the assembly is not difficult, it is involved, and it will take you 5 hours if you are doing it alone, so budget enough time for that, and 2)Glue the large roof pieces together. This will increase the storage space that the disassembled dollhouse will require in several years when your children are through with it, but it will make it much, much sturdier. The roof is the only thing that isn't incredibly sturdy, and it's fine with a touch of glue. The detail on this house is amazing. The windows all open. The flowerboxes and garden urns have flowers with individual stems and heads, so your child can design and redesign the flower arrangements. Doors swing open on hinges. Flooring appears to have tiles or floorboards. And the staircases can either be installed or not, depending on whether your child would prefer more room or a more realistic house. There is a companion item that you can buy that will add another floor to the bottom of the house, making it a three-floor house all together. Also, there are many sets of furniture available--all of which have all the details that matter to kids: the drawers open, the doors open, there is cutlery to go in the kitchen drawers, etc.. We have friends whose daughters have this house. They love it and have played with it for hours on end. Their older girl only stopped playing with it when she was about 12 years old! All in all, this is a wonderful, fanciful product that will be passed down from child to child for sure.

I was given this dollhouse for christmas when I was 11 years old. I remember helping to set it up on christmas morning. I have wonderful memories of this dollhouse and all the fun little accessories I have collected for it over the years. Even the ones that didn't necessarily fit in the same era (pirates and vikings). Because all the Playmobil sets are set at the same scale, I had hours of fun for several years, creating different senarios for each doll. Last month I brought this dollhouse out of storage, and though I'm missing a few pieces, I set it up, and it looks just as beautiful as it did the day I opened it. I am a huge fan of Playmobil. The pieces fit together logically and sturdily (with an exception of the roof), and what's more, when it's properly taken care of, it lasts! I highly recommend this product!

Santa Claus brought this for my 2.5 year old daughter. She was too little! She did love to play with it, but the parts were too small (we never installed half of them) and hard for little fingers to manipulate. We thought it would "grow with her," but it really would have been better to wait! She is 4 now, and we may get it out again. If you are looking for a dollhouse for a younger child, try something simple like the Fisher-Price one, and buy this one for a later birthday or Christmas.

my 12Year old daughter started with Playmobil 8 years ago,are playmate she had whom was a boy introduced her to it.Thru the years we have bought so many pieces that I lost track, the doll house and all the funuture, the castle and all the funiture, the adventure set, that was her first, and is no longer being made, the cabins the animals, the pirate ship, yes a girl wanted the pirate ship, and the lagoon.Playmobil is one toy she always went back to playing with. She will play for hours on hours role playing.I thought we were done with toys, she is at the age of boys and makeup. So I went in and separted and put all the pieces back toghter,2 days of work and found out that I like it too.I really enjoyed all the craftmanship that goes into each piece. We have a room full of Playmobil, and I am going to keep buying it,because it somehting,a hobbie that my daughter and I can do together.Playmobil is a good learning tool to let kids use thier minds insted of watching tv,or playing the video games, and computer.LET YOUR CHILD IMAGINE.And you might learn too.

I got this toy when I was about 5 years old. I feel in love with it in Greece at the Playmobil Place. I have played with it for years and it never gets old. I have bought many extentions and love expanding to it. It's a great toy and with each set you get so many peices with it for a resnobile price. Now at 11 years old I still enjoy going into my basement to play with it.

All little kids love it,

We have one that we bought several years ago when our niece was 11. She loved it and over time we bought two more stories and all the furniture we could find. All little kids love it and can't keep away from it. We keep the extra pieces in a tool bag next to the house. It takes a grown-up to put it together, but it's worth it. We keep it on a piece of cloth on a wooden cabinet, because it could scratch the wood as kids slide it around. I only wish I bought it when my niece was younger. After age 12, she is fond of it, but does not play with it. By the way, think of this as part of the decor, because there is no such thing as putting it away. It is too big and cannot easily be picked up, unless maybe you screw it to a piece of plywood.

Gorgeous and Easy To Put Together,
By
This review is from: Playmobil Victorian House (Toy)
I loved this thing the first time I saw it assembled. So I purchaed it for my grand niece. I was afraid that I would not have the time to put it together, given what the other reviews said (one says a day and a half). Well, maybe I have a penchant for such kits, but it took me about 2 1/2 hours, spread over a couple of days. The instructions made it amazingly easy. So far, I see no problem with the roof, either. Once you snap it together correctly and have the roof "crown" firmly in place, it seems to be fine. As other reviews have stated, the thing is gorgeous. Well worth every penny I spent for it.

Probably the greatest toy I've ever owned!,
By Taran Wanderer (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

The Playmobil Victorian Dollhouse (5300) is definitely my favorite among all of the Playmobil theme worlds. There's an air of happiness inside this dollhouse and playing with it and all of the furniture sets I own never gets old. The dollhouse is desined specially to home Playmobil figures and it is probably the greatest plastic dollhouse you'll ever find. The detail inside and outside is incredibly amazing. Real wallpaper cover each wall, there's curtains in every window, all doors and windows open and you can even customize the flower baskets on the windows to look as you like by changing the indivudual flowers.
The dollhouse contains 5 different rooms and a large terrace design to home the 5322 Kitchen, 5316 or 5320 Dining Room, 5311 or 5312 Children's Bedroom, 5325 or 5321 Master Bedroom, 5323 or 5326 Terrace Set and for the 5th room, you can choose between the 5313 Nursery or the 5324 Bathroom. You can also purchase the Expansion Floor from Playmobil, which will give you two extra rooms to which you can have both Nursery and Bathroom and even add the 5310 or 5315 Fireplace/ Living rooms. There are tons of sets out there to add to the inside or outside of the dollhouse. Unfortunately, in late 2004, Playmobil announced the retirement of one of their greatest toys only to live in a modern, ugly "Victorian" dollhouse that isn't half as charming as the original. Shame on you, Playmobil!

Best Present Ever.,

"Santa" left this for me under the Christmas tree when I was in the 2nd grade. To this day (I am 26 years old), it was the best present I have EVER been given with the exception of the birth of my daughter.
Later on in life I found out my parents scrounged every penny to get me this dollhouse. I played with it for HOURS every day until I entered jr. high and became afraid I'd get made fun of. I know it took my parents quite some time to put together. Even now my mom says it was worth every minute. I still have the dollhouse and plan to give it to my daughter when she is old enough to play with it (Kindergarten-ish). It has a lot of really tiny parts so beware, but if your child has a vivid imagination, this is the best doll house you could ever buy her. Ever.

A Lot of Work but Worth It,

This dollhouse has shown that a lot of imagination and thought went into this piece. The only draw back is that it is VERY labor-intensive, but worth the effort. Older children MAY be able to put it together, but I would recommend they have adult assistance. One adult could put it together in one day - maybe a day and a half. The base and first level alone have around 100 parts so patience would be the best thing to have plenty of.
