We own a lot of Playmobil. Too much, really. And I have to say of all the sets, this one ranks among the lowest.

First of all, the set-up time is ridiculous for what you end up with; essentially a pretty platform and a wall. It took me over an hour because to attach the 6 or so pieces of the platform and the dozen or more pieces that comprise the wall, you have to insert countless little red and yellow clip-on devices to each piece with the little included tool, maybe 50 of them, maybe more?

And it is very pretty - that's probably its best feature. But once you're finished with it, what do you do with it? The platform is so small that it barely accommodates the sparse castle furniture that is included with it, a gold throne, a gold table with decorative blue peacock, a neon transparent harp, and a standing candlestick. There is also a candelabra on the wall with transparent sconces and a 'glass' vase that can hold two small lilies.

The set comes with two fairies with accompanying garb; wings and crowns. There is also a unicorn family, mother father and baby.

The little rose bushes that sit in decorative planters (which serve the dual purpose of stabilizing the castle floor) are adorned with countless roses. When assembled they are pretty, but my daughter is fond of 'picking' all the 20-plus flowers off the bushes. Another drawback of this set is the sheer volume of pieces. The box states there are over 200 pieces, and I don't doubt that for an instant. Never have I encountered another example of a Playmobil set that has contained so very many pieces, so clean-up is a real bear, especially if you have a child that enjoys disassembling as much or maybe more than the actual roleplay (and I do).

This product was very very expensive for what you get. It took ALOT of time and patience to get all of the VERY tiny individual parts put together. Once you get it together(finally)I picked it up to move it, and it started falling apart. Most of the parts are the size of you little finger nail and you have to have a special little tool that comes with it to put it together so dont loose the tool! It's very difficult to play with it, unless you super glue it together. $60 bucks is just a rediculus price, I think more like $20 at the most.

This a good toy for my daughter who loves anything Fairy or unicorn and she plays with it often, but it is awful to put together! there are a million tiny pieces and a tool to put it together and for one little castle playset, it took about an hour to put together and I put machinery together for a living!

Ok, for me the playability of a toy is equally as important as its ease of storage. I have to admit that we have a lot of toys and toys that do not collapse for storage is just too much trouble. Takes up table space, floor space, shelving space and/or closet space. In this particular toy, it is the shape of the base and the height that makes this toy bulky to be put away as-is or have it laying around for a week. You are paying for the castle/palace scene. Similar unicorns, fairy and accessories can be found in the fairy carry-around case set and other smaller fairy sets. The scene itself is not that interesting to a 4-year old. No moving pieces, no hiding spots, not many ways to re-configure the parts. The one thing that my little one likes about this set that is not easily replaceable by other smaller sets are the pink cones on top of the palace. She likes to take them off and then hide stuff in them. Overall, I would skip this set and get other fairy sets that are less bulky. If you want a bulky set, I think I would go all out and save up for the castle that can also be served as a dollhouse. If you are getting this set as a replacement of the big castle, don't do it. Not worth the price tag.

This is a neat toy but has far too many pieces. I purchased for a four year old, and her parents were overwhelmed when they saw all the tiny parts.

Whoever designed this toy does not like parents, and doesn't like kids much either. There are, as advertised on the box, 217 pieces in this set. Many of them, probably at least 80-90, are as small as 3 mm. If you look closely at the pictures, all those little flowers on the bushes are individual pieces. There are teeny attachments that are small squares that hook all the bits of the walls together. Those spires? Twelve pieces each. What this means is that it takes an inordinate amount of time and frustration to put this together, and then it falls apart with play, resulting in small pieces all over, and missing flowers and bits which are never to be found again. Add to that, the actual product is not a great toy to encourage creative play. There are spaces and connections for everything, which makes a child attempt to follow the spatial rules of where everything goes, instead of just having imaginative play. We received this as a gift, from a well intentioned giver, but I would never buy this product on my own and I would not recommend it. Not a great toy, and poorly executed "construction." There are far better toy options that will give hours of fun without the dose of frustration and the dozens of missing pieces.
