5.0 out of 5 stars A great toy!
This is a wonderful toy that helps with hours of imagination and creativity! Yes, there are small pieces. We have had it come apart too but only if you pick it up by the roof. 3.0 out of 5 stars What a pain in the pieces!
We got this for our four-year-old daughter who dreams about horses every night. Yes, we knew like all Playmobil kits that this one came in pieces and we'd have to put it together. That's fine, we didn't mind because she got to help us do it. What became the issue is when she'd have friends come over to play and soemthing would become loose or disattached and we'd have to...

This is a wonderful toy that helps with hours of imagination and creativity! Yes, there are small pieces. We have had it come apart too but only if you pick it up by the roof. We always hold the base and carry it that way. It is hard if you have an array of ages in your home. It is unrealistic to think the older kids can't have toys because they could be choking hazards to the younger. We have taught them to be careful to clean all the pieces up and watch the baby doesn't tear things apart. Our 9,8,5 and 3 year olds love this farm and I would recommend first to over 4 years old but if it isn't possible just be aware of the choking hazard. In my experience, when it has fallen apart, the small pieces that secure it have stayed in place nicely and helped me know how to reassemble. It isn't that hard if you were the one that put it together originally. It would seem to me the reviewer with the destructive play date should re-think the toys they let rough friends play with. This is an expensive set and wouldn't be something I would let destructive, disrespectful or very small children play with anyway. It doesn't seem right to be annoyed at the toy when it clearly states there are small parts. Anyone who had owned playmobil knows about the tiny parts. That's what makes it so much fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!, November 13, 2003

Because this toy comes in a "kit" form, i.e., has to be assembled, my son and I had a great time not only playing with it but putting it together! He is totally enthralled with all the parts and pieces, and the price is reflected in the amazing attention to detail. It's a great gift and I will definitely be purchasing other playmobil toys. (Keep in mind, with lots of small pieces, it's not the best toy if you have young toddlers)

We gave this to our six year old daughter last Christmas and she has played with it all year. Yes, it requires a one-time set-up, but the instructions are straight forward. I did pause over the price, but I'm really glad we bought it: its been played with all year. I love the Playmobil toys because there is so much room for imaginative play. Our daughter and a friend played with this toy for over an hour today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun!, May 3, 2005

My three year old saw this and had to have it (he loves ponies). I was not sure how well it would work for us, but gave it a try anyway. On a rainy day this will keep my three year old and his five year old busy for hours. They play with it happily together which is a feat it self. I have one warning, there are litterally hundreds of VERY small peices (I have confiscated some of them to be given back when our baby is older), little flowers, tools, lights, everything! I do not remember Playmobile toys being this elaborate when I was a kid. It's even fun for parents to play along too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for imaginative role play for 4+, November 28, 2005
This review is from: Playmobil Horse & Pony Ranch (Toy)
Between my 4 year old daughter and my 7 year old son, we have a wide range of playmobil sets from farming to racing to construction. They are always well made, interesting to play with, and full of even the tiniest details. This one however is one of my favorites (and my daughters too :-). Of course playmobil is extremely conscious of every detail...and you will get tiny pieces that you can determine for yourself whether to include them now or later or never. This goes really well with our other farm/barn set. We set up our farm barn and this pony farm and we have a whole scene of imaginative play to go crazy with. Now, it does come apart if you are not careful to move it properly. We assemble and disassemble it on and off, and can keep the assembled farm up on the shelf where it also LOOKS cute as a display. Playmobil is one of my favorite toys for its ability to role play imaginatively. AND it has no bells and whistles...just good ol'fashion fun. When my son was younger he didn't do "role play" as much as my daughter does...so playmobil wasn't as much fun for him in that regards. He enjoyed his racing and construction pieces for the sheer ability to take apart everything and put it all back together (he's our little builder). 3 year olds of course can play with this but it may tend to fall apart easier with little hands that aren't as careful, and may require an adult to reassemble at that age. This is a great gift for a 4+ aged child who enjoys imaginative role play.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hours of fun!, November 14, 2004
This review is from: Playmobil Horse & Pony Ranch (Toy)
My daughter, age 4.5, has had this for about a year, and it is still one she plays with every day. We have it set up on a table all the time, and whenever one of her friends comes over, it's the first toy they go to. She also plays with it alone quite often as well. I am very pleased with the quality of this toy, and I don't recall it being that much trouble to put together, I'm not sure what other reviewers are complaining about. We love Playmobil!

We got this for our four-year-old daughter who dreams about horses every night. Yes, we knew like all Playmobil kits that this one came in pieces and we'd have to put it together. That's fine, we didn't mind because she got to help us do it. What became the issue is when she'd have friends come over to play and soemthing would become loose or disattached and we'd have to help her put it back together. The first few times, we didn't mind. But one day she had a few friends over for a play date and they took it apart in one fell swoop! One lift of the hand and the whole roof came off, then the sides were sort of picked off like toothpicks. I was a bit irritated because we didn't keep the box with the assembly instructions (large box, by the way) and now the stable is sitting in a cluttered pile in a grocery bag out of reach. Right now, I'm looking for another stable to get her, like the Melissa and Doug one, where it is playable and the pieces aren't breakeable. Trust me when I tell you that the pieces aren't just the ones that hold up the structure, their also the teeny, tiny ones that keep the structure in tact and if you have small children around they will pick it up and try to put it in one orafice or another.
My review is this...get this toy for an older child who doesn't have any young siblings or make sure this one stays in the room away from the younger children because the pieces are really really small.

4.0 out of 5 stars overrated, December 29, 2002

I had no idea this toy had to be built. I was very disappointed about this. That was the last thing I wanted to do on christmas morning and the day after, was to be building this farm. It's ingeniously made, alot of detail, and really cute. My kids have fun with it. It's alot smaller than I thought it would be too. For that price, I thought it would be alot bigger; more substantial. Don't think I'd ever buy another set.
