Product Description

Product Description

This fun, quick thinking pattern recognition game helps kids five and up train their visual perception and color identification skills. There are 14 pairs of cards, each pair shows the same 15 objects. The objects are all different and are in different colors and locations. One pair of cards always has one and only one object identical in color with any other pair.

From the Manufacturer

Catch the Match is an eye-catching, pattern recognition game. There are 15 cards that each have the same 15 objects. Each object is different and is in different colors and various locations on the cards. Any two cards always have one (and only one) object that is exactly identical in color. All players play at the same time. Be the first to find this pair and say the name of the object and point it out. If correct, the player takes one of the cards as reward. The player with the most cards, when all run out wins! Catch the Match is simple to learn while still making for an exciting, brain-stimulating time.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher pulled me aside and told me how much my daughter enjoyed this game at school, plus she was really good at it. She suggested I order it from Amazon and we love it!

As earlier reviewer noted - its a game even little kids excel at, and there are times when my daughter sees the match before I do.

Its a great rainy/snowy/bad weather day game. And a good alternative to the over stimulation of Nintendo/Game boy units. Plus, pattern recognition and memory exercise, without seeming like work!

highly recommended (...) what more could a parent ask.

My nephew got this game as a gift and it is now a family tradition whenever we get together. The best thing about Catch a Match, is that everyone gets a kick out of it... and the kids do better than the adults.

It plays similar to the game SET (one of our favorites), but we find it cuter, and much more fun! I have to admit, I thought the game would become repetitive, but it seems like you are always trying to "catch" a different "match". This game is highly recommended, but is mainly geared towards children!

Catch the Match is a wonderful toy for young children. I am able to play it with my 5 year old and my 3 year old at the same time. There are not many games out there for children at that age range. It is wonderful at strengthening visual perceptual skills which are really important as children learn to read. I highly recommend this game!

This game is fun -- there are 15 items that vary in color combinations and each card has only one exact match with any other card. I use this game in my language classes because there are no words on the cards, only pictures, therefore it works well to practice vocabulary in any language; also, because there are only 15 objects, it is not overwhelming for students to remember the names. We can practice the 15 terms as well as colors.

However, it is VERY simple and does get boring after a while, so I have to rotate it into a variety of games with my classes. A more challenging option of the same type of game is Spot It although that game has English words on the cards, which makes it less ideal for foreign language practice.

Finally, I feel that for a game containing only 15 cards, this is a bit expensive at nearly $10. Yes, the cards are durable and thick, but if young kids are playing with this, I doubt the cards will hold up to bending / tearing / staining. If found used or cheaply, this would be a great teaching resource.

This game consists of 15 cards, with the same 15 items on each card, however, in the order and coloring of the items varies. With 15 cards, there are 120 possible pairings of cards, and each pairing has one, and only one, exact match. The object is to be the first player to "catch the match." This is a wonderful game to work on building visual perception skills, for all ages. Children can compete with adults and have a chance, and depending on the child and the adult, the child may very well do better! We have formed the habit of saying, "I found the match," but not saying anything further until the other player has found it as well. That keeps it from being as frustrating if one person is usually slower.

I like that this game is very simple, with just 15 cards, which makes it very portable. I've played this before with 2 children at once, trading cards between the two to keep the assortments random. My children (8, 6, and 4) also sometimes like to just take 2 cards on their own and find the match at their own page. Overall, I'd say this is a good educational game, but it's not one of my children's favorites.
