The game is very easy to play and the rules are quick to learn. It's a simple game, but it isn't as easy as you might think so even adults and older children will be challenged. I would highly recommend this fun and inexpensive game!
49 cards are included with the game and pictures on the cards include simple objects such as a clock, a fish, a banana, a feather, etc... The cards are slightly smaller and thicker than your average playing card making them relatively sturdy. Sherlock works well for kids from about age 4 on up and plays in approximately 15 minutes making this a great before-bedtime game. The small deck of cards also packs well making this a great game to throw in the suitcase when going on vacation. We enjoy this one!
I spoke with their mom this month and they're still playing the game regularly. My 7-year old grandson has improved his attention and listening skills too by using/playing the game. I'm a former teacher and highly recommend this game; it's actually fun for adults and would be excellent for elderly folks too that need to sharpen up their memory skills.
It is easier to setup then regular memory and our kids love it! They don't even count how many they got at the end - they just want to play it again. There is strategy component of the game of not only memorizing the picture on the card, but also the number at the top. If you remember enough of them you can actually pick cards that will get you back to the card you flipped over so you win the card.
Now the theme of Sherlock is only a sales tool and once the game is setup it completely disappears. Once the game starts it doesn't matter. In fact, we don't even use the Sherlock card to keep track of where we are - it becomes too cumbersome and slows the game down - and again the theme doesn't really apply.
- Fast, Easy, Fun!
- Kids don't get overly competitive with this memory
- Cards are great quality with nice artwork
- Small box
- Good price
CONS (very minor):
- The cards tend to spin out of position when playing on hard surface
- The theme of Sherlock is nonexistent (we don't even use the Sherlock card)
Great game for 5 Year Old and up!!
