I have owned this for several years, and was surprised to find only 1 review of it here. My opinion is that it holds up well to repeated plays, and is friendly to new gamers and experienced ones alike. It is one of those games that is quite easy to learn, but provides some interesting and strategic decisions for players.

First, the components are nice. You get a nicely illustrated board of streets and intersections, where you will place nice wooden market stall pieces and some customer meeples. When you place stalls, they are placed on street spaces marked with point values. Streets are subsequently scored when all the spaces on a street contain markets, and when there are customers positioned at both ends of the completed street. There are rules for how the markets must be built. This, plus the fact that players have limited game actions each turn, provide strategic decisions and timing decisions. Players also place the customers as game actions. Although customers are drawn from a bag randomly each time, you have the choice of where on the board to place them. There are 2 types of customer meeples, and the combination of them that are located at each end of a scored street serve as a multiplier for market points that are earned by players there.

Another seemingly simple, but important aspect of the game, is a token called the bobby. The bobby piece can be moved on a player's turn, and it determines where that player can build markets on that turn. You move the bobby to any area you wish to build. But moving costs victory points if you have to move it over streets that are controlled by other players, due to them having a majority of markets on the streets you wish to cross. Crossing over streets you control is free.

I picked this up on clearance sale, and it looked like it might be fun for a family that likes strategy games (along the lines of Carcassonne). This game was OK; it was more strategy than a nice balance of strategy and luck. But it isn't complex enough. It won't take long to develop "sure fire" moves that will pretty much win all the time, and we prefer a game that has better balance of randomness and strategy.

The main con is that the instructions are very complex, much more than the actual playing is. And we did end up "altering" things to make it more interesting.

We are big gamers, so it is a nice change, plays quick and allows us the chance to play nice or play "mean" depending on our moods. But overall, it isn't one of our favorites.

A great game for both experienced euro-gamers and/or mixed groups of eurogame experts-&-novices.
Come for market, stay for the math.
