I have a few Firehouse Five CD's. They're all fun, all pretty much the same, but this one's my favorite. Maybe it's the song selection. To hear this band tackle love songs is a crack-up.

Jeez!, August 15, 2005

OK, here are Disney animators--among the best in the business--headed by Ward Kimball--Disney's chief kook and badboy--playing first class Dixieland with a real edge. Not cornball but often as hip and ironic as Crumb's Cheap Suit Serenaders or Squirrel Nut Zippers. Check out the first cut on this album courtesy Amazon--brilliant. Go get a copy of "Disney's Nine Old Men" and read about Ward, or get a copy of his "Art Afterpieces" and ask how original Banksy is with his current subversive art (I wrote Banksy pointing how how he'd actually ripped Ward off and he never replied!). Ain't nothin' bugs me more than stuff done by folks fifty years ago that was, in many ways, better, or hipper, or tons weirder, than much going on today and that's dismissed as old-fashioned or corny, or worse, just plain ignored!
Great series with very cool cover art!
