4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I could find the rest of their titles..., November 25, 2004

This review is from: Plays Miles & Gil (Audio CD)
I first came across Tokyo Union Jazz Orchestra in college, when a friend had a tape of their "Live in Montreaux 1978" recording.

Tokyo Union Plays Miles & Gil is one of two recordings available in the US (the other is "Keeping Count", mostly Basie tunes). Director Takahashi has put together a great group of musicians, and they really know how to play -- whether bop or jive or a ballad. You'll play this one over and over, although personally I like the "Maiden Voyage" and "Live at Montreaux" recordings best.
